Strong physical frame standing around 6-foot-4, 220+ pounds. McClaskey is currently a catcher, but I believe he will project as a first baseman. At the plate starts open in an athletic position and lands on line. Hands load back, moving down then up, to an arm bar. Swing can get a little long, but has present power to the pull side. Bat path is level and stays on through extension. Displayed ability to keep hands back on offspeed as he hit a line drive into left on a curveball in his final at bat on the day. Lower half is strong and finishes completely. Defensively he has strong hands and pop times between innings were 2.07-2.16, but he is an average blocker. McClaskey probably transitions to first base at the next level to get the most out of his offensive ability.
