5.19.17: Nielsen has an athletic frame with a strong lower half. Short arm action, a bit stiff on backside, quick arm stroke, throws with some effort. Three-quarters slot, shoulders closed and slightly uphill. Lands closed, athletic finish with recoil. Fastball was 82-84, touching 85 with late arm side run and plane, movement was heavy at times. Slider had good armspeed and late hard 11/5 break, 73-78.

4.2.16:  Nielsen has an athletic frame and throws from a low three-quarters arm slot with a short, loose arm that generates velocity with normal effort. His shoulders are down and closed as he strides to a square landing with a fall off finish. Nielsen’s fastball had heavy run, sitting 82-84 in the windup, and 80-81 in the stretch. His curveball had gradual 10/4 action, running 69-70 and has a lot of potential as he gets stronger and tightens its spin.
