Vargas is 5-8 with a strong athletic frame. He hits from the right side from a slightly open athletic stance, short stride on line, short load back, hips rotate completely with explosion, good balance to swing. Short to ball, uphill swing path with extension through the ball, strength at contact, showed pull preference, exit velocity was 86. At first, gets body behind ball and fields with average hands, three quarters arm slot, position velocity was 79. On the mound, he throws from a three-quarters arm slot with short free arm action and normal effort. Shoulders closed and uphill, lands square with an athletic finish. Fastball was 77-81 with downward plane and some boring action to armside. Curveball was 65-67 with 11/5 break and some armspeed. Change-up was 71 with some armspeed and sink.
