VA/DC Unsigned Senior Games

Rice is 6-0 with an athletic 185 pound frame that has some strength present. He is a switch hitter, from the right side, hits from a leaned back balanced athletic stance, low leg kick stride on line, loads back. Hips rotate and he maintains some lower half balance. Hands stay inside, short to the ball, slightly uphill line drive swing path, showed a good approach working gap to gap, some extra base power present. From the left side, hits from a wider leaned back athletic stance, strides in place, short load back. Hips rotate completely and he maintains good lower half balance. Hands stay inside, short to the ball, uphill swing path, showed a good approach working gap to gap, some extra base power and swing generates loft.  Best exit velocity was 88. In the infield, rounds the ball and fields with a wider base and average hands, works through the ball with a clean exchange, throws from a low three-quarters arm slot, long arm action, position velocity was 72. On the mound, he throws from a low three-quarters arm slot, long free arm action and some effort to his delivery. Drop and drive delivery, shoulders are uphill and closed, lands open with a fall-off finish and some recoil. Fastball was 70-74, touching 75, with heavy armside run that gets some late depth. Curveball was 57-63 with good armspeed and hard late 11/5 break to it. Change-up was 67-68 with good armspeed and some late heavy fading action.

Maryland Top Prospect Games West

Body: 6’0”, 185 pounds. Sturdy, stocky frame with lower have strength.
Hit: Switch. The switch hitter mirrors from both sides of the plate, though getting more stretch and juice as a right-handed hitter. Utilized a backloaded setup with a gather load to the shoulder allowing for a connected drive out into the baseball at impact. Had success with a flat path peppering the middle of the field as a righty with extra base hit potential to pull. As a lefty, sprayed contact on the ground with the ability to find barrels on a line to RF. Can swing it from both sides well.
Power: 86 mph exit velocity during BP per TrackMan. Singles power and occasionally can lift for extra bases (LHH), ready doubles power as a RHH with success staying on the baseball from a stretched position.
Arm: RH. INF - 73 mph. Short arm circle with a quick release from low ¾ (accurate on the bag).
Defense: Hop in the prep step, gets the upper half down over the toes with slight bend in the knees, handled hops to the glove side with early recognition on slow rollers off the bat.
Run: 8.67 60-yard time.

Delivery: Starts from the stretch only, showing a slightly funky delivery. Wide footed beginning and lifts the leg upward, not crossing the right leg at the top of the stack before driving out on time with hand break. Repeated well working straight down the mound towards the plate without restrictions.
Arm Action: RH. Low ¾ with ability to move the baseball all over the plate.
FB: T74 mph, 71-73 mph. Average spin rate of 1388 rpm per TrackMan. Tough, deceptive run away from lefties and into RHH. Really sinks and plays down in zone.
CB: 58-62 mph. Average spin rate of 1413 rpm per TrackMan. Developing action with short break across the zone on occasion; can throw with more arm speed.
CH: 65-67 mph. Similar to FB slot at release, fades off the plate to arm side.
