4.15.16: Committed to Winthrop
5.30.16: Peek is a lanky righty with a drop and drive delivery. Throws from a high three-quarters arm slot with a shorter, loose arm action that is lightning quick, uses easy effort, occasionally normal effort. Shoulders slightly closed and slightly uphill, square landing and athletic finish. Fastball has heavy late run, sat 89-91, touching 92 whenever he wanted to. Held velocity for seven innings and doesn’t lose much in stretch, sitting 87-89 and touching 90. Fading change-up with good armspeed at 78. Two breaking balls with similar 11/5 shape. Curveball 66-71 is sharp, slider 73-77 has harder bite with later break.
4.8.16: Athletic, lanky frame and delivers the ball from a high three-quarters arm slot. Hands over his head during wind-up. The ball comes out of his hand and explodes to the plate. Sits at 88 mph touched 91 three times. Quick arm action with late movement. Can miss high in the zone, has good run into righties. Features a power 11/5 breaker with near fastball arm speed (71-73 mph). Change-up is his third pitch, good action, down in the zone (67-68 mph). Smooth rhythm, shoulders level, in-line, square motion with an athletic finish. Body language says he is in charge, a good kid, serious competitor. Good frame to fill up.
2/15/19: Lean frame with room for additional physical development. Loose and clean arm action with a high three-quarter slot and repeatable delivery for solid-average control. Showed two variations of the fastball. Softer two-seam/sinker look showed some wiggle to the arm side with heavy tendencies. The second, a firm four-seam look, lacked life and flattened out through the zone finding the barrel. Maintained his velocity through his five innings of work. Showed a confident mix of his secondary offerings inducing swing and miss and weak contact with both his slider and changeup. Slider was tight with two tier break and late bite at the plate. Thrown as a soft away offering to righties and showed both back door and back foot sliders to lefties for strikes. Maintains hand speed with is change and mirrors the fastball release point. Flashes of heavy fade at times. Deceptive offering to left-handed hitters inducing swing and miss. Set-up man to mid reliever profile. (Tisdale)
8/8/18: 6’3, 200 pounds with a strong and projectable frame. Peek has an athletic delivery with a quick arm. Works from an over the top arm slot with slight cross action in his delivery. Creates good downward plane on all of his offerings. FB sat 91-93 mph and topped at 94. CB ranged 76-79 mph with 11/5 shape and good bite. Also flashed a CH at 82-84 mph. Consistent strike thrower.
