12.30.18 - Offensively, Blake starts in a high neutral position. Swing can be a little long, but as he develops that will get shorter. Drove ball consistently back through the box and to his pull side.
Defensively, Blake throws out of a side-arm delivery to second base. As he gets older, this could cause him some issues defensively. He showed a pop time of 2.47-2.63.
On the mound, Blake throws out of a low three-quarter delivery. His FB sat 60-62 mph with good movement at the plate. His CH was 55-57 mph with some difficulty throwing for a strike on this day. Blake rounded out his bullpen with a CB at 49-50 mph that, with his arm action, displayed a sweeping motion towards the plate.
2/24/18 Initiates swing from neutral set up with short controlled stride staying neutral. Separation and weight shift are adequate in young player. Hip turn is somewhat passive and there is subtle front side stiffness with intermittent early knee lock. Blake flashes solid barrel feel and ability to keep bat in hitting zone for extended time. Young player shows considerable offensive potential while recording a 68 mph bat exit velocity.
On the mound, works out of mid 3/4 arm slot with solid balance, rhythm and ability to repeat. Steps closed resulting in crossfire action. Commanded three pitch mix with FB at 63-64 mph showing intermittent sink. CB sat 51-52 with 11-5 shape and rolling action. CH at 54-56 was thrown with good sell.
Defensively, as catcher recorded pop times of 2.75-2.84.
