St. Alberts Cardinals vcs Calgary Junior Dinos Black

By Jared Kennedy
PBR New England Scout

Liam Froment LHP / Prospects Academy, AB / 2019

Liam Froment was extremely effective on this day as he used a very good three pitch mix to keep the Dinos bats off balanced. He located his fastball efficiently, keeping the ball routinely down in the zone limiting hard contact. Froment’s fastball had good late life running to his arm side and was not afraid to pitch inside. His bread and butter was his curveball as he threw it early and often keeping the heavy middle of the order bats at bay. It had a good shape to it with a gradual break but had a large velo differential to his fastball that had the Dinos out front. He threw from a high ¾ arm slot with a loose arm in the back that worked quick out front. He landed slightly closed but had consistent mechanics that allowed him to locate well. Velocity on this day was in the low 80’s, will be interesting to see how this prospect continues to mature throughout the next year.
