Future Games Trials/Preseason Uncommitted: Quick Hits

Brady Turner/Braden Persian
PBR Canada Staff

On Friday, March 24th, PBR Alberta staff headed to St. Albert as we combined the Future Games Trials and Preseason Uncommitted events at Absolute Human Performance's new facility. Our staff got a look at 40 players from the province including a trio of players who will be with us in early May at the Best of the West Tournament in Kamloops.

Players who attended for the Future Games Trials were 2025 and 2026 grads looking to showcase themselves for PBR Canada's team attending the PBR Future Games in Emerson, Georgia in late July. Players who attended for the Preseason Uncommitted were 2023 and 2024 grads looking to play at the next level, as well as showcase themselves for potential roster spots on our Best of the West team, as well as the West Coast Games in Las Vegas in early August.

Our TrackMan was utilized throughout the event for batting practice metrics, as well as bullpens to gather advanced data on players. Beyond that, players ran through defensive evaluations with positional velocities and pop-times recorded.

Below, we conclude our post-event coverage with a look at the top TrackMan hitting data from the two combined events.

FUTURE GAMES TRIALS/PRESEASON UNCOMMITTED: QUICK HITS

Nathan Flewelling C / OF / St. Joseph High School, AB / 2025

Flewelling is a young, talented 2025 Gonzaga commit. Behind the dish he shows maturity and a level of comfort not often seen by players his age. Flewelling boasts a POP time of 1.78-1.98 with the ball coming out of his hand at 80 MPH. The talent doesn’t stop there, on the offensive side of the game Flewelling shines, launching baseballs consistently at 88 MPH with a top exit velocity of 97 MPH. Flewelling is a player that dominates on both sides of the ball, watch for him to make noise throughout the summer.

Cam Bergstrom RHP / 3B / Ecole Secondaire St. Albert Catholic, AB / 2024

Bergstrom is a large framed 2024 grad. The 6-foot-2, 210-pound right-hander fills the zone with a solid three-pitch mix. Bergstrom works over the top and moves well downhill. Bergstrom was up to 89 MPH with the fastball, sat 78-79 MPH with a changeup that has good arm side run and 82-84 MPH with a good sweeping slider. On the infield Bergstrom has smooth actions and clean footwork working through the ball. At the plate Bergstrom showed somer pull side pop from the right side. Bergstrom found consistent barrels during his round averaging 89.6 MPH and getting as high as 94 MPH off the bat. Bergstrom is solid two-way player that should put up some big numbers through the year.

Miguel Tetreault 3B / Ecole Secondaire St. Albert High School, AB / 2025

Tetreault had a great day showing his skills on both sides of the ball. Tetreault demonstrates smooth and clean actions on the infield before making good throws across the diamond. Tetreault has smooth and strong swing, keeping the ball low while using all fields, making it look easy. Tetreault had a max exit velocity of 91 MPH on the day. On the mound Tetreault flashed a 3 pitch mix, with his fastball up to 79 MPH, changeup sat 74-75 and slider 68-70. Tetreault worked down hill and filled the zone with all of his pitches. The young 2025 grad has a bright future and potential to do big things this year.

Cole Huebner 3B / RHP / Strathcona High School, AB / 2023

At 6-foot-3, 230-pounds, Huebner was one of the more physical players we had at the event. On the mound, he sat 85-89 (T90). His low-effort delivery allowed him to repeat it with ease while also tunneling his fastball and slider well. The late sweeping action on his slider plays well off his fastball out of a ¾ slot. At the dish was where his physicality stood out. With an aggressive but controlled approach, he worked pull-side getting the ball in the air, and had a top exit velocity of 97 mph.

Emry Cairns SS / RHP / St. Francis Xavier, AB / 2023

At SS, Cairns had one of the strongest days amongst the infielders. Leading the way are his quick feet and smooth hands which get him in the right place and allow him to make an easy transfer and get the ball out. In the box, his advanced feel for the barrel leads to a line drive approach working to the big part of the field. Worked up to an exit velocity of 90 mph. There’s a lot to like in his projectable 6-foot-2, 165-pound frame and we’re excited to have him with us at Best of the West.

Carter Bevans RHP / Lethbridge Collegiate Institute, AB / 2026

2026 Carter Bevans was one of the younger players we had at the event. Despite that, there’s a lot to like in the RHP. His loose, whippy arm out of a low slot allows him to generate significant arm side run on his fastball. He also possesses a slider that produces sweep which out of the same arm slot, works well with the fastball. The youngster put himself on the map and he’ll be someone to follow as the season kicks off.
