Scouting Report

Background: Mount, a slender 6-foot-1, 165-pound, right-handed pitcher for the Ottawa Nepean Canadians, is a must watch arm in his class. On the bump, Mount uses a drop-and-drive style delivery, varying leg-lifts, and working in-line towards the plate. He releases from a high ¾ arm slot with short arm-action out back, the arm works quick, and the ball comes out clean. Mount has been up to 88 mph, sitting 84-88 when last seen, locating primarily arm-side; although he has made improvements in getting to his glove-side more often. He will mix in an overhand curveball, and a changeup, both pitches which have been useful but need continued refining.

Outlook: The upside is there for Mount, the arm speed with room for additional strength should allow Mount to add a couple more ticks to his fastball comfortably. Having spent time in the outfield, he has run a 6.96 60 yard dash and moves well on the grass; the athleticism is evident. Mount has improved locating within the zone and should continue to do so as he gains body control. He has a feel for his curveball, and with more comfort and development of the pitch, it could provide him with at least one secondary offering he can rely on in college. There is a lot to like with Mount, and it would be no surprise to see him develop into a top arm in his class.
