Background: After a successful 2017 season that saw him emerge as one of the top 2018 arms in Alberta, Jared has continued to develop his command & secondary pitches. His ¾ arm slot provides him with some great arm side run, and he has also established a cutter to compliment this movement. He has a plus change up and has worked hard to establish his slider as a solid secondary breaking pitch. When Jared works down in the zone, his late movement on his fastball and above average off-speed pitches make him very tough to hit.

Need to Know: His 6-foot-3 frame and smooth mechanics give Jared a very high ceiling, as there is still room to fill out and generate more velocity. He threw in several big games last summer and proved to be one of the better all-around pitchers in the province. Jared is looking to take a big step this summer when he will be expected to be the leader of the pitching staff. His mound presence and demeanor on the mound are everything one could ask for in a staff ace, and if he keeps working to fill out, a few extra mph could make him a great option at the next level.
