Central Alabama Fall ID: Quick Hits

AUBURN, AL – The 2026 fall showcase schedule continued on Sunday, September 13th, as Prep Baseball Alabama traveled to Lee-Scott Academy in Auburn, AL for the Central Alabama Fall ID. Serving as the first Fall ID event of the schedule, the event featured prospects from across the state who participated in a full pro-style workout in front of the Prep Baseball Alabama staff with comprehensive data collected throughout the day.

Players in attendance went through laser-timed 60-yard dashes using VALD Performance gates, batting practice evaluations with TrackMan and Blast Motion technology, and defensive workouts at each position with arm strength metrics recorded. The event provided players an opportunity to update their profiles with verified data while giving our staff another look at prospects heading into the remainder of the fall.

Below, we take a closer look at several players who stood out with scouting notes and takeaways from the event.

SS JB Upton, Tallassee (AL), 2027
Upton showed why he remains one of the top-10 prospects in Alabama’s 2027 class with an impressive offensive showing. The Jacksonville State recruit and 2025 Future Games alum has a strong 5-foot-11, 195-pound frame with plenty of twitch and explosiveness in the profile. The ball came off the barrel loud throughout BP as he repeatedly drove it with authority into the pull-side gap and left the yard multiple times to right field. Upton posted a 107.4 mph max exit velocity, averaged 99.7 mph throughout his round, and reached a max distance of 392 feet. He also ran a 6.86-second 60-yard dash.

OF Jace Dean, Rehobeth (AL), 2028
Dean continues to perform with the bat and has established himself as one of the more polished left-handed hitters in Alabama’s 2028 class. The 5-foot-11, 174-pound outfielder hits with a quiet confidence and shows an advanced feel for the barrel with consistent hard contact. There is both hit and power upside in the profile, and his round of BP was highlighted by a 101.2 mph exit velocity. Dean also ran a 7.09-second 60-yard dash. The bat has been a consistent performer across multiple looks and remains the carrying tool in the profile.

C Diego Pacheco, Pike Road (AL), 2028
Pacheco continues to show as one of the top catchers in Alabama’s 2028 class with an above-average tool set across the board. The athletic 5-foot-11, 180-pound backstop has present strength in the right-handed bat and moves cleanly through contact with a swing geared for gap-to-gap lift. He reached a 96.3 mph exit velocity and ran a 6.97-second 60-yard dash. Behind the plate, Pacheco showed clean defensive actions with an accurate arm, producing pop times of 1.96-2.02 seconds with a 79 mph catcher velocity.

OF Tyler Blanchard, Prattville (AL), 2028
Blanchard was one of the bigger winners from the event and performed well across the board. The 5-foot-9, 162-pound outfielder showed a compact right-handed swing with present strength and consistently found the barrel throughout his round of BP. He reached a 98.8 mph exit velocity and showed quality athleticism with a 6.78-second 60-yard dash. After earning a starting role for Prattville last spring, Blanchard looks primed to take another step forward and become a key piece for the Lions in 2027.

OF Camden Pilate, Opelika (AL), 2028
Pilate was arguably the top athlete in attendance and continues to make noticeable gains in his overall game. The 6-foot-1, 171-pound outfielder has a lean, projectable frame with plenty of tools already present. He moves smoothly through contact with good direction in the swing, working on an uphill path while staying primarily through the middle of the field. Pilate reached a 93.7 mph exit velocity, ran a 6.70-second 60-yard dash, and showed a 92 mph arm from the outfield. He also brings legitimate ability on the mound, adding another element to an already athletic profile.

SS Bryson Suchocki, Pike Road (AL), 2028
Suchocki showed a well-rounded tool set with plenty of projection remaining in a lean, athletic 6-foot-2, 172-pound frame. He currently profiles as a line-drive hitter with a level path through the zone and reached a 97.3 mph exit velocity during BP. Defensively, Suchocki worked up to 90 mph across the infield and has the arm strength and athleticism to stick on the left side. He also ran a 7.07-second 60-yard dash. A legitimate two-way prospect as well, Suchocki has worked in the mid-80s on the mound in previous looks but did not pitch at this event.

OF Woods Carter, LaGrange (GA), 2028
Carter showed a quick-twitch offensive profile with a quality round of BP. The 5-foot-11, 149-pound outfielder works with simple actions and a controlled load before delivering the barrel with present bat speed. His swing stays well connected with quick hands and good barrel awareness, allowing him to consistently find the sweet spot. Carter worked primarily with a line-drive approach and reached a 97.2 mph exit velocity.

C Caden Norris, Auburn (AL), 2028
Norris certainly looked the part physically and backed it up with a loud round of BP. The 6-foot-4, 206-pound catcher has a projectable frame with easy strength already present in the barrel. He works on a clean path with a gap-to-gap approach and produced consistent hard contact while reaching a 94.4 mph exit velocity. There is plenty to like about the power potential as he continues to develop. Norris also showed versatility between catcher and first base, recording pop times of 2.03-2.05 seconds with a 74 mph catcher velocity.

OF JC Cummings, Opelika (AL), 2028
Cummings owns some of the best raw power in Alabama’s 2028 class and showed it again during his round of BP. The physical 5-foot-11, 194-pound outfielder gets synced into the lower half well and works the barrel on an uphill path geared for lift. He reached a 99.7 mph exit velocity and has produced even bigger numbers in previous looks. There is still another level to the offensive profile as he continues to tap into that power more consistently in game action. Cummings also turned in a 7.03-second 60-yard dash.
