HUNTSVILLE, AL – The 2026 fall showcase schedule continued on Sunday, October 4th, as Prep Baseball Alabama traveled to Huntsville High School in Huntsville, AL for the North Alabama Fall ID. Serving as the second Fall ID event of the schedule, the event featured prospects from across the state who participated in a full pro-style workout in front of the Prep Baseball Alabama staff with comprehensive data collected throughout the day.
Players in attendance went through laser-timed 60-yard dashes using VALD Performance gates, batting practice evaluations with TrackMan and Blast Motion technology, and defensive workouts at each position with arm strength metrics recorded. The event provided players an opportunity to update their profiles with verified data while giving our staff another look at prospects heading into the remainder of the fall.
Below, we take a closer look at several players who stood out with scouting notes and takeaways from the event.
Bowen showed an impressive collection of tools in his first look since recently committing to Northwest Shoals CC. The 5-foot-11, 164-pound outfielder is a twitchy athlete with quick hands and present bat speed from the right side. He showed both hit and power upside during BP and reached a 100.3 mph exit velocity. Bowen also ran a 6.68-second 60-yard dash and worked up to 92 mph from the outfield, giving him a well-rounded tool set heading into his senior spring.
Young showed plenty to like as a two-way prospect with upside remaining on both sides of the ball. The 6-foot-1, 172-pound shortstop stays balanced throughout a well-connected right-handed swing and showed the ability to drive the baseball with authority to the pull side. He took some of the louder swings of the day during BP with multiple deep drives and a 98.0 mph exit velocity. Young also ran a 7.21-second 60-yard dash and has worked in the low-80s on the mound with more velocity likely to come. A 2029 name to follow closely.
Utley continues to show a quality hit tool that has performed consistently across multiple looks. The 5-foot-11, 162-pound shortstop has a lean, projectable frame and stays through contact well with good feel for the barrel. The power is beginning to show up more frequently as he adds another dimension to an already polished offensive profile. Utley reached a 98.5 mph exit velocity and led the event with a 393-foot max distance while also running a 7.07-second 60-yard dash.
Isensee continues to show one of the more advanced offensive profiles in Alabama’s 2030 class. The Junior Future Games alum is a switch-hitter with a clean, repeatable swing from both sides and an advanced feel for the barrel. He peppered line drives to all fields throughout his round while swinging with good intent and staying under control. Isensee reached a 92.8 mph exit velocity and ran a 6.92-second 60-yard dash. The hit tool continues to stand out as a carrying trait in the profile.
Wedgeworth made a strong first impression in his Prep Baseball debut and showed advanced skills on both sides of the ball. The 5-foot-8, 173-pound backstop has good rhythm at the plate with a clean, repeatable operation and reached a 90.4 mph exit velocity. His defensive ability stood out as well with clean actions behind the plate and a 1.96-second best pop time. Wedgeworth more than held his own in his first look and established himself as a 2030 catcher to follow moving forward.
Ruffin fits the mold of a top-of-the-order bat with good contact skills and athleticism. The 5-foot-8, 150-pound outfielder keeps things simple at the plate with easy actions and a swing that he repeats well. He showed the ability to use the entire field throughout BP and reached a 95.7 mph exit velocity. Ruffin also ran a 6.86-second 60-yard dash with the speed adding another element to his offensive profile.
Morton showed impact on both sides of the ball with a strong overall workout. The 5-foot-7, 157-pound catcher creates tight turns in a compact right-handed swing and delivers the barrel with violence through contact. He showed the ability to lift the baseball to the pull side and reached a 95.1 mph exit velocity. Behind the plate, Morton recorded an event-best 1.88-second pop time with an 80 mph catcher velocity.
Redmon showed a quality offensive foundation with plenty of physical development still ahead. The 5-foot-7, 140-pound outfielder has a lean frame with room to add strength and already possesses good swing traits to build on. He was consistently on the barrel throughout BP with a quick, whippy path that produced firm contact through the middle of the field. Redmon reached a 91.8 mph exit velocity and ran a 7.04-second 60-yard dash.
Austin has a high-floor offensive profile with a dependable hit tool that has performed over the long haul. The 5-foot-7, 172-pound infielder shows an advanced feel for the barrel and consistently produced line drives to all fields throughout his round. He stays short and direct to contact with a clean path through the zone and a simple approach that allows the barrel skills to play. Austin reached a 92.2 mph exit velocity and ran a 7.11-second 60-yard dash.
Dunham brings serious compact strength to the right-handed bat with a strong lower half and plenty of thump in the barrel. The 5-foot-8, 212-pound catcher works with a repeatable operation using a toe-tap trigger and shows good smoothness throughout the swing. He produced firm gap-to-gap contact during BP with the ability to lift the baseball with authority to the pull side. Dunham reached a 92.5 mph exit velocity during his round and remains a quality uncommitted 2027 backstop to follow heading into the spring.
Talbert showed some of the better raw power at the event with easy strength coming off the barrel. The physical 5-foot-11, 202-pound catcher works on an uphill path geared to impact the baseball and showed the ability to drive it with authority from gap to gap. There is plenty of strength behind the swing without needing to sell out for it. Talbert reached a 100.2 mph exit velocity during his round.
