Baker 7 McGill-Toolen 6
The defending 7A state Champs jumped out to an early lead. In the 3rd inning, Sean Mahler's two run double put the Jackets up 4-2. Andrew Lindstrom and Will Taylor followed up with RBI singles as McGill-Toolen led 6-2 after 3 innings. McGill-Toolen starter George Meyers left the game after four innings with a 6-2 lead.
Baker sent sophomore Tyler Sirmon to the mound in relief of starting pitcher Landon Singley. Sirmon pitched four scoreless innings, allowing four hits while striking out three. Sirmon did not walk a batter.
Baker rallied in the top of the 6th, Connor Gulledge's RBI single cut the lead to 6-3. Brayden Brooks and Singley scored on a throwing error to cut the score to 6-5. Landon Lary singled to tie the game at 6.
In the top of the 7th, Brooks singled in Cole Dunlap to put the Hornets ahead. McGill-Toolen did not go quietly in the bottom of the 7th. With runners at first and third and one out, the Hornets induced a groundball and promptly turned the double play to end the game.
Sirmon picked up the win on the mound while McGill Toolen catcher Jacob Huff had four hits for the Yellow Jackets.
