PBR Alabama Staff

Daphne 2 Baker 1

Three Baker pitchers held Daphne scoreless for six innings.  However, the Trojans rallied for two runs in the top of the 7th and Daphne's Jackson Meadows retired the Hornets in order in the bottom half, handing Baker its only loss of the season.

The game featured solid pitching and defense.  Daphne's Bailey Mott threw 5 1/3 scoreless innings, striking out three and allowing only one hit.  Jackson Meadows only needed to face four batters to record the final five outs.  Daphne shortstop Drake Seibert and second baseman Grae Cole rolled a double play to get out of a jam in the 6th.

Baker's Landon Singley threw two scoreless innings, striking out three. Cole Dunlap and Daniel Hadley followed with two scoreless inning each for the Hornets.

After an error to lead off the 7th, Baker brought in Tyler Sirmon from the bullpen.  Jackson Howard's single put runners on first and second for the Trojans.  A throwing error on a bunt attempt tied the game for Daphne and left runners on 2nd and 3rd.  After a pop out, Howard scored the winning on Cole's ground ball.

Daphne improves to 8-4 overall and is 1-1 in 6A Area 2

Baker drops to 11-1, the Hornets begin 7A Area 1 play next Thursday.
