Thursday, March 5: Florence Falcons 5 Muscle Shoals Trojans 0

Florence Falcons defeated Muscle Shoals 5-0 as three pitchers combined to throw a shutout and strikeout 13 Trojan hitters. Cade Henry induced a fly ball to secure the win for the Falcons.

Florence opened the scoring in the top of the 2nd inning with a lead-off double by (2020) Ben Arnett. (2021) Zeke Bishop followed, hitting the first pitch he saw for a 2-run bomb, putting Florence up 2-0. Muscle Shoals best scoring opportunity came in the bottom of the 2nd inning as 2 base on balls and an infield single by (2020) Thomas Morinelli loaded the bases. (2021) Grant Taylor was able to get a strikeout to end the threat. At that point Taylor was able to over match Trojan hitters through 4 innings, giving up only 1 hit and striking out 10 before handing it over to the Falcon bullpen. Muscle Shoals starter (2020) Cooper Vincent settled in nicely and held Florence to only 2 runs heading into the 6th inning. Florence tallied 3 runs in the 6th inning with a 2 out rally, sparked by 3 straight hits by (2021) Preston Alexander, (2021) Parker White and a 2 RBI single from Arnett who would later score on a passed ball making the score 5-0 Florence. (2020) Carson Sweetwood and Henry contributed 3 innings of solid work out of the bullpen to secure the shutout for the Falcons.
