Huntsville 10 Buckhorn 2

Huntsville travelled to Buckhorn on Monday and fell behind early but answered by scoring 10 straight runs. Huntsville sent Jacob Knight to the mound and the senior delivered a quality start as he scattered 3 hits over 6 innings. He struck out 6 Buckhorn hitters and only issued 1 walk while giving up 2 earned runs. Sophomore Cade Prestegard worked the 7th inning and allowed 2 hits but did not surrender a run. Buckhorn countered with senior Blake Burgess and he worked 5 innings on the mound. The right hander only gave up 3 hits and struck out 6 and walked 2 Panther hitters. Burgess did give up 6 runs but none of those were earned. Davis Craig worked the 6th and 7th innings for the Bucks and gave up 4 earned runs (3 earned). He allowed 2 walks and also struck out 2.

The scoring started in the bottom of the 1st inning as Dylan Paseur started things off with a double and later scored when DJ Jackson launched a 2 run homerun over the right field fence. The Panthers scored 4 runs in the top of the 3rd. Xavier Vaz reached via error and later came around to score when Stone Lawless also reached on an error. Wade Passler, who earlier walked, scored when Nick Sottolano grounded out to second base to knot things up at 2 each. Knight helped himself out as he then delivered and RBI single to score Lawless and put the Panthers up 3-2. The Panthers would then execute a double steal to push across another run in the frame to make it 4-2.  The Panthers would blow the game open in the 6th inning as they tallied five more runs. The inning started with Jayce Guyette and Knight both reaching by error and pinch hitter Michael Pfeiffer walked. Prestegard delivered a sac fly to make the score 5-2 and pinch hitter Aidan O’Halloran singled to load the bases again. The big blow came next as Vaz ripped a bases clearing triple into the left center field gap making the score 8-2. Passler then singled to score Vaz and push the lead to 9-2. The Panthers added another run in the 7th as Sottolano reached via error and later scored on a wild pitch to give us the final score of 10-2.
