Return a lot of players that have been playing at this level for two years
OUTLOOK:
The Fairhope Pirates enter the 2020 season with high expectations as several players on the current roster have played at this level for a few years. The Pirates will once again be competing in 7A Area 2 with McGill Toolen (7A state champ in 2019), Foley and Murphy. Coach Stu Fuller welcomes back six positional starters and eight pitchers that took the mound on a state playoff team in 2019. Senior LHP/1B Micah Morgan returns after putting up big offensive numbers a year. For the year, he hit .361 with 25 RBI’s and will be looked on to be a run producer hitting in the middle of the order. He is a Spring Hill College signee. ‘21 RHP/OF Keaton Fuller (Troy University commit) also returns after compiling a 5-1 record in 2019 with four saves and a 1.42 ERA. He will move to the top of the pitching rotation in 2020. Two other Spring Hill College signees (both seniors) are C/RHP Solon White and 3B/RHP Logan McKeever. The physical White (6’3 190 lbs.) will return behind the plate and will also be looked on to produce with the bat as well. McKeever has the potential to be a big bat in the Pirate lineup and will also see valuable time on the mound. Junior southpaw Beau Priester is another quality arm for the Pirates that shows high pitchability from a tall, slender frame. He shows a live fastball and breaking ball with nice depth. Bryce Knox is a junior shortstop that also returns and has some physicality to his game. He shows nice glovework at shortstop and can be a big bat in the lineup. ‘21 CF Hayden Phillips is a speedy outfielder that should patrol gap to gap in the outfield grass in 2020 while ‘22 RHP/1B Forrest Gunnison is a young player with solid two way skills on the mound and offensively with the bat. The Pirates enter the 2020 season with high expectations and hope to be a major player in 7A.
