TEAM STRENGTHS:
Team unity; small group but very close
OUTLOOK:
The Lee Generals enter the 2020 season ready to compete in 6A Area 16 alongside Buckhorn, Hazel Green and Jemison. There are five returning positional players and two pitchers from the 2019 team. The group may be small but Coach Butch Weaver likes the cohesiveness and unity among the group. The Generals will be looking for some guys to step up and provide some depth on the mound in 2020. One guy that will definitely be counted on in a two way role is 2020 OF/LHP Noah Watkins. He returns as a starter for the fourth year and will be a catalyst for the Generals on the mound and at the plate. Watkins is a big time competitor that commands several pitches well, including a solid breaking ball. He will also be a run producer for the General offense and will also patrol centerfield. 2020 MIF/RHP Jonathan Vickers is another guy that will be counted on in a dual role as he will see extended innings on the mound while also serving as a table setter for the offense. Vickers can really run. 2022 MIF Xavier O’Neal is a talented young player that shows a ton of raw talent at several places on the field and handles the bat very well. Senior RHP/OF Harley Carden will be asked to throw some big innings this season. The senior really competes well on the mound and shows a knack to command several different pitches. Senior OF Evan Albright shows nice athleticism and returns to the outfield with a lot of experience from past seasons. Albright, who shows nice speed, will be looked on to produce with the bat this year.
