OUTLOOK:

The Priceville Bulldogs finished first in 4A Area 13 in 2019 and have hopes of repeating that in 2020 but that will not be an easy task as they will be competing with Danville, St. John Paul II and West Morgan for the area title. Coach Preston Potter returns six positional starters and seven pitchers from a year ago. Only one of those pitchers was an area starter so there is a need for a few arms to step u and deliver in area games. ’21 C Drew Gates returns and is a solid catch and throw guy and has added size and strength over the last year. He will handle duties behind the plate after hitting .386 with 22 RBI’s a year ago. Junior INF/RHP Dylan Johnson had a monster year in 2019 hitting .426 with 26 RBI’s at the plate. He also saw time on the mound and had an outstanding K/BB ratio. He will be called on again in 2020 to produce in a two-way role. Mason Mann is a physical junior 1B that has some major power from the left side at the plate. He will return on the infield after hitting .348 with 9 doubles, 1 homerun and 23 RBI’s in 2019. Shortstop is in good hands as ’21 Cole Smith returns for the 2020 season after hitting .330 with six 2B’s, one HR and driving in 29 runs last year. Senior OF/RHP Johnnie Keahey returns on the mound after going 2-2 with 31 K’s in 25 innings pitched a year ago. He commands the fastball very well and has a late breaking curveball. ’21 RHP Jordan Johnson also returns to the mound after having a successful sophomore campaign that saw him finish with a 4-3 record. He struck out 37 hitters in 39 innings pitched and finished with a 3.80 ERA. All of his pitches show nice movement and he features an exceptional change up. The Bulldogs have the pieces to contend for the 4A Area 13 title in 2020.
