‘20 3B/RHP Isaac James

Above average hitting with pop in the middle of the order
OUTLOOK:
The Warriors just missed on a state championship in 2019, losing in the 2A state finals in Montgomery. Expectations haven’t changed as this year’s squad has the pieces to make another deep run. Coach Matt Kennedy welcomes back seven positional starters and six guys that saw time on the mound in 2019. There is no question who is at the top of the Warriors rotation as ‘21 RHP/OF Samuel Dutton returns for his junior season. The LSU commit has made a name for himself on the mound but he can also cover a ton of ground in center fielder and does a nice job with the bat towards the top of the order. On the mound, Dutton has over powering stuff as his fastball will reach the low 90’s and is complimented by a plus breaking ball. ‘20 SS/2B/RHP Andrew Dutton is a major piece of the puzzle as well. The Birmingham Southern commit is a solid defender up the middle and has a patient approach at the plate with plenty of pop off the barrel. He will also see plenty of innings on the mound. Senior 3B/RHP Isaac James is a steady player that shows consistency in his game at the hot corner and as a hitter. James will also see time on the mound this year. Joseph Gilchrist is a senior OF/SS/2B that gives the Warriors major production out of the leadoff spot and is skilled enough defensively to double as a middle infielder and an outfielder. Gilchrist simply grinds out AB’s. Another senior, RHP/1B Brett Vice shows a ton of power at the plate and commands the zone very well when he is on the mound as he is able to mix pitches consistently. Look for Westbrook Christian to be a major player in 2A again in 2020.
