Alabama All-State Games: Quick Hits

PBR Alabama Staff

TROY, AL - The Alabama All-State Games was held on Tuesday, July 11th at Riddle Pace Field at Troy University in Troy, AL. This event was an invite-only event that consisted of some of the top prospects from the 2024-2027 classes. These players went through a pro-style workout and took batting practice using Trackman and Blast Motion to record hitting metrics. Pitchers were able to throw in simulated outings facing hitters during gameplay and were able to get numbers and metrics off of our Trackman unit, such as pitch velocity, spin rate, horizontal & vertical movement & much more. There were some players who showed up and continued to build off of prior performances, but there were also some new names who jumped onto our radar with a strong showing on Tuesday.

Kicking off our post-event coverage for the event, we take a look back at some of the top performers and standouts. Continuing over the course of the next week or so, we will release Statistical Leaderboards for the event then transition into releasing individual scouting reports for each player in attendance.

Jamarkius Smith RHP / OF / Reeltown , AL / 2027

6-foot-2, 160-pounds. Lean, uber-projectable frame with the highest of upsides. Rare combination of premium stuff and feel to pitch on the mound. One of the top right-handed pitchers in the country and continued to add to his strong resume he’s compiled over the past year playing in various PBR tournaments, showcases, etc. Worked two innings on the mound, and garnered the attention of everyone in attendance with overpowering and wipeout stuff facing players much older than him. Fastball operated at 88-90 mph in the windup; more 86-88 mph from the stretch. Generates tons of arm-side run with an average of 16 in. of horizontal movement during his outing thanks to a fast, whippy arm motion out of a true ¾ arm slot. While the velocity caught the attention of many, his feel to spin a wipeout mid-70s slider on command was what really separates himself from others in his class. The offering consistently registered spin rates in the 2400-2500 rpm range and has tons of late bite to it. It varied shape at times due to slot change, and collected a handful of whiffs and uncomfortable swings/takes during the outing. Also mixed in a diving changeup to left-handed hitters at 79-81 mph and is already a quality third offering to the repertoire. Extremely high ceiling with natural athleticism and is also a standout quarterback prospect. Will be at the PBR Jr. Future Games.

Hudson Gilman C / RHP / Oxford , AL / 2025

Uncommitted. 6-foot-2, 210-pounds. Durable frame with proportional, defined strength to his build. Top-10 prospect in the 2025 class in AL and former PBR Future Gamer; will be back repping Team AL in a couple of weeks. Really strong day all-around ranking near the top of most statistical categories. Posted a quality round of BP with a short-to-long swing from the right side that hammered baseballs into the pull-side gap with easy pop and mid-90 EVs. Whippy barrel and stays short throughout his swing. Has shown power and can hit to all fields within his approach. Premium defender from the crouch and elite catch-and-throw skills with advanced arm strength. Consistent pop times in the 1.85-1.90 range with top catcher velocity at 80 mph. Hopped on the mound and was 85-87 mph with 2300 rpm and 17.5 in. average of induced vertical break. Mixed in an 11-5 curveball with 2300 rpm and a fading changeup at 78-79 mph as secondary offerings. Must-follow moving towards the PBR Future Games at the end of July.

Ian Cartwright OF / Alexandria , AL / 2024

Uncommitted. 6-foot-0, 180-pounds. Medium build with some proportional strength; good combination of strength and athleticism. Continues to have a really strong summer and build off of prior performances. Best we’ve seen him at yesterday’s event ranking near the top of most statistical categories. Has been a sub-7.0 runner in the past and clocked a 7.10 60 YD yesterday and uses his speed well tracking balls in the grass. One of the more impressive rounds of BP with consistent loud contact and mid-90 EVs throughout. Swings the heaviest of barrels through the zone on a slightly uphill plane. Multiple balls sent deep to the pull-side with a max distance of 330 ft. Looks to lift and hit for extra bases within his gap-to-gap approach. Works through the balls athletically on throws to the plate and was up to 90 mph from the outfield with accuracy. One of the top uncommitted outfielders in the 2024 class in AL.

Cole Dean 1B / Bayshore Christian , AL / 2025

Uncommitted. 5-foot-10, 180-pounds. Stronger build with some twitch and strength. One of the more aggressive hitters in the state and doesn't get cheated; not much swing-and-miss, however. Easily the loudest round of BP looking to drive the ball to the pull-side with authority, and recorded the top EV from the event at 96.1 mph and an average of 89.8 mph. Also led the field with the furthest estimated ball tracked at 368 ft.; his last swing in the clip that landed well over the monster in right field. Swings the barrel with violence and tons of controlled aggression. Not just a BP hitter; he’s hit and hit for power in nearly every look over the past two spring seasons and scorched two balls during gameplay, one going to the warning track in left field for a double. Offense-first prospect, but a special hitter to watch that continues to impact the baseball at such a high level.

Brodie Jones SS / Opelika, AL / 2025

Uncommitted. 6-foot-0, 165-pounds. Lean and wiry build with present athleticism that shows up in everything he does on the field. One of the top middle infielders in the 2025 class in AL that is coming off of a sophomore season where he hit over .400 and anchored the shortstop position for a strong 7A program. Continued to look the part at yesterday’s event with a solid all-around showing. Slick-fielding defender up the middle with a strong 86 mph arm that profiles to stick on the left side in the future, but is versatile to play multiple positions on the infield. Contact-type hitter with a line drive approach that continues to show the ability to find the barrel at a high rate both in rounds of BP and in gameplay. Solid athlete that ran one of the better 60 YDs from the event at 6.95. Another prospect in the 2025 class in AL to keep close tabs on moving forward.

Bryson Morman RHP / SS / Oak Mountain, AL / 2024

Uncommitted. 6-foot-0, 180-pounds. Wiry frame with present athleticism. Strong two-way prospect who possesses upside on both sides, but possibly more on the mound. One of the top pitchers to throw from the event and worked a clean inning showcasing an effective two-pitch mix. Fastball operated mostly 84-86 mph after reaching 88.0 mph in the early going; possesses tons of arm-side run averaging nearly 15 in. of horizontal movement. Slider profiled as one of the top secondary offerings from the event in the 71-74 mph range; spins it hard and in the 2500-2650 rpm range. Tons of bite to the offering with wipeout potential and collected numerous uncomfortable swings/takes throughout his outing. Clean, low-effort release. Gap-to-gap hitter at the plate with low-90 EVs and also clocked a 7.01 60 YD. Intriguing uncommitted prospect in the 2024 class in AL to follow.

William Clark OF / Briarwood Christian, AL / 2025

Uncommitted. 6-foot-1, 190-pounds. Proportional build with strong lower-half. Good combination of strength and athleticism. Impacts the game in a variety of ways. Coming off of a strong sophomore campaign hitting for power near the top of a quality 6A lineup. Showcased gap-to-gap pop during his round of BP with a top EV at 95.2 mph. Has shown power in previous looks and will hit for more. Upright, balanced stance gets back square using a simple stride; knob-led path and strong top hand meets the baseball and impacts it well. Good athlete and clocked a 6.98 60 YD, one of the best from the event. A/AA arm from the outfield and can track balls well in the grass. Intriguing tools across the board and still has projection left. Also a quarterback prospect on the gridiron. Good uncommitted prospect in the 2025 class in AL to know.

Carter Jackman OF / Hoover , AL / 2024

Uncommitted. 6-foot-3, 190-pounds. Medium frame with room to add mass and has some athleticism. A good name to know for the 2024 class in AL in terms of uncommitted prospects. Displays solid tools across the board and posted an impressive round of BP. Really gets into the lower-half well in his swing with torque; uses his frame well. Generates separation with the hands and swings the barrel on an uphill plane. Looks to drive the ball to the pull-side and registered consistent low-90 EVs; recorded a max distance of 342 ft. Has a short path to contact and extends well; present bat speed and turns it in a quick window. Profiles as a corner outfielder and has a really strong arm that worked up to 91 mph on throws to the plate. Saw quality playing time as a junior for a powerhouse 7A program and will be a solid addition at the next level.
