WETUMPKA, AL - Two 6A teams battled it out in Wetumpka, AL on Monday, March 8th, as Wetumpka hosted Valley in a single game that started at 4:30. It was a perfect day for baseball at Wetumpka High School. The Indians of Wetumpka handed the ball to LHP Dawson Fuller (2022), and the Rams countered with RHP/3B Hunter Meadows (2021). 

Both teams went three up, three down in the first inning and a half of the game, as both pitchers pounded the zone and worked around a few baserunners to keep the game scoreless midway through the 2nd. The Indians, however, were the first to crack the scoreboard in the bottom of the 2nd. After three one out singles from C Garrit Terrell (2022), OF Jackson Ray (2021) & 1B Jaxon Shineflew (2023), the Indians were able to push across four runs in the inning, with two coming off the bat of 2B Noah Jones (2022) on a double down the left field line. Wetumpka carried a commanding 4-0 lead to the 3rd inning. 

The Indians struck again with two more runs in the bottom of the 4th inning. 2B Noah Jones (2022) came back up for his 3rd at-bat, and promptly deposited a breaking ball over the left field fence for a solo shot. This was Jones' second long ball of the 2021 season. Wetumpka added two more runs with two outs in the same inning on a single from OF Jackson Ray (2021) to increase their lead to 7-0.

Meanwhile, LHP Dawson Fuller (2022) was in cruise control on the other side for the Indians. He pounded the zone at 80-83 mph with his fastball and complimented it with an advanced changeup for strikes. He finished with a no-hitter in five innings, while only allowing two walks and striking out 11.

Wetumpka took advantage of a few walks took push across three more runs in the bottom of the 5th, resulting in a 10-0 mercy rule win over Valley in five innings of play.
