OUTLOOK:

The Dolphins of Coach Chris Jacks are looking forward to the 2019 season as they prepare to compete in the very challenging 6A Area 2 race with Spanish Fort, Robertdale, Daphne and Baldwin County. The Dolphins have continued to make positive strides over the last few years and welcome an impressive group of freshmen to go along with a few key returners from the 2018 season. Among the returners are two guys that the Dolphins will depend on as two way players. Senior Parker Christianson returns as a RHP/CF and shows a live arm on the mound and is a very athletic CF that can really cover gap to gap. Zach Swann is another senior RHP/OF that the Dolphins will depend on heavily. He does a good job of creating deception on the mound and has hit over .360 from the leadoff spot the last two years with over 40 SB’s. Sonny Garmon is a junior that really competes on the mound with a fastball in the low 80’s and nice feel with his secondary stuff. Several talented freshmen will also be counted on to help this year as well. Thrasher Steed, Judd Keel and Devin Polk will all be looked on to help on the mound, as well as in the field. All three are RHP with solid mechanics and a lot of room to progress over their high school careers. Polk and Steed are also very capable behind the plate as catchers and Keel is a utility guy that can play a multitude of positions. Infielder Marc Stephens is a player that “eats, sleeps and breathes baseball” according to his coach and is already legit with the glove and shows a nice approach at the plate. The Dolphins will host their annual spring break tournaments (Gulf Coast Classic I and II) and hope to be playing some big area games late in the year.
