The 2022 high school baseball season is quickly approaching and as usual, excitement abounds throughout the state. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across Alabama.
Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons in Montgomery at the AISA or AHSAA state championships, but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes reality. We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Alabama. We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews and by continuing our scheduled podcasts and releasing our preseason Top 10 in each AHSAA classification.
Please keep checking back throughout the season as we will be your one-stop shop for everything related to high school baseball across the state. Each week we will be releasing our players of the week, updating the Top 10 in each AHSAA classification as well as a Power 25. One thing that you especially don’t want to miss are our scheduled podcasts with guests from across the state as well as recaps and previews of big games across the state.

Team Outlook
The Priceville Bulldogs come in to the spring of 2022 with high hopes to make it back to the Class 4A State Playoffs. Last year, the Bulldogs were able to finish as the runner-up in their area, but were eliminated in the 1st Round to West Limestone. There are some key names coming back that should lead the way this spring.
The Bulldogs last some of their lineup from last year due to graduation, but there are some other guys who look ready to step into bigger roles in 2022. RHP/1B Joseph Garrison (Troy) is a big & physical right-hander who returns as the lone starting pitcher from area play. Garrison recently attended the North Alabama Preseason All-State event and was named a top performer for touching 89 mph with his fastball. He's got good command for the pitch and uses a quality breaking ball and changeup for off-speed offerings. He's coming off a sophomore year where he led the team in wins, ERA & strikeouts, so he'll be a big arm to watch for this spring. INF/C Zach Chaney is another junior who returns after hitting in the middle of the order on last year's team. Chaney is a gap-to-gap hitter with good pop to all fields and a great baseball IQ. He should be one of the leaders offensively for this team. C/3B Wes Walker is another middle-of-the-order type bat that should provide plenty of offensive production this year as a sophomore. Walker is a physical switch-hitter with pop from both sides of the plate. SS/RHP Jackson Prickett is another player in the junior class returning for the Bulldogs. Prickett will likely move to shortstop after spending most of the last year in the outfield. He's an athletic player up the middle with the ability to hit for extra bases from the right side. LHP Thomas Kerby is another arm with good command as a southpaw, while INF/OF Brayden Burney & OF Xander Gaines will both play bigger roles this spring.
Although there are some upperclassmen that will be relied on, the Bulldogs will need some underclassmen to step up this spring in order for them to have success. INF Ryan Hanks is a strong corner infielder who should see time at both 1st & 3rd base this year. RHP Colman Gann is a freshman with a good arm on the mound that should see some innings. The Bulldogs should be a competitive group in 2022.
