OUTLOOK:

The Rebels enter the 2019 season with a very young team but still have a decent amount of experience returning from a 2018 area championship team and state quarterfinal appearance. They will do battle in 4A Area 13 along with Danville, Priceville and St. John Paul II. Coach Matt Hutto welcomes back 5 position players that started in 2018 and 3 guys that contributed on the mound. The Rebels obviously return some talent from the 2018 team and one of those is 2022 SS/RHP Skyler Hutto. While only an 8th grader in 2018, he led the team in hitting (.417 BA) and won 7 games on the mound which was good enough for 2nd team All State. He is the #5 ranked player in the state 2022 class and his recruitment has really started to heat up. 2021 Glavine Segars (C/3B/RHP) also returns as the starting catcher. He has been behind the plate for the Rebels the last two years and hit .343 in 2018. Another 2021 returning to the lineup is MIF/RHP Colby Hutto. He is very athletic and has started for the varsity the last two years. He finished 2018 with a .351 BA. Skyler and Colby are the coach’s sons. Chander James is a 2019 1B that has also started the last two years for the Rebels and hit .343 in 2018. He will be counted on to provide leadership on this year’s team, as well as his strengths on the field. A couple of other 2020’s to keep an eye on are Ashton Owens and Garrett Weatherwax. Owens is a very versatile player that can play just about anywhere on the field and Weatherwax will be counted on as a RHP/2B/OF. Once again, look for the Rebels to make some noise in 4A with a talented group of young players.
