Hoover HS back into the 7A playoffs

David Sharp
State Director - Alabama

Last year Hoover High School had a magical run to Montgomery which resulted in a 2017 7A State Championship. One player that played an integral role on that team and looks to carry over that succes in this year's State Playoff's is Peyton Wilson.

The University of Alabama commit has taken an even larger role on this year's Buc team. Currently hitting .382 with 15 2B's, 7 HR's and 31 RBI's. He has stolen 14 bags and has scored 32 times. He is the straw that stirs the drink for the Bucs. Quoting his head coach Adam Moseley, " Peyton is a throwback type of player. He plays the game hard no matter what the situation. He is a fantastic catcher and second baseman with a plus arm at both positions. He can hit for power and average. Finally, and most importantly, Peyton is an incredible competitor. He never gives in and is always one swing or defensive play away from changing the game.

The Bucs are in one of the more intriguing 7A matchups this weekend as they host the Hewitt Trussville Huskies. In a unique situation, this matchup features that last two 7A state champions (Hewitt Trussville- 2016, Hoover- 2017) and should make for a very entertaining series.
