INFIELDER EVALUATIONS

Chase Becker, RHP/SS, Cedar Rapids Kennedy, 2021
6-foot-3, 180-pound right-handed hitting 2-way player. Tall lean prospect in 2021 class with athleticism. 4.85 home-to-first time. Crouched stance, wide base, lift in swing plane, pull approach, aggressive swinger, shows solid bat speed with pop in bat, 89 mph exit velocity. Above avg. feet and actions for age, works though ball, sure hands, plays with energy, and has above avg. arm to bag, 82 mph arm across infield.

Kyle DeWeerdt, SS, Camanche, 2021
5-foot-9, 145-pound right-handed hitting shortstop. 4.6 home-to-first time. Tall stance, easy load, narrow base, calm actions in box, tends to rollover at contact, flashes hard line drive and ground balls to pull side, 82 mph exit velocity. Tends to field deep in stance, solid athleticism, raw mechanically but should improve with maturity and development, accurate arm to bag, 69 mph arm strength across infield.

Jake Goodfellow, 2B, Estelline (SD), 2020
5-foot-7, 145-pound right-handed hitting utility player. 5.05 home-to-first time. Closed stance, flat bat plane, pushes barrel through zone, raw actions at plate with short finish, spray contact, 74 mph exit velocity. Avg. quickness, sure hands, reads hops well, stiff arm action, accurate to bag, 66 mph arm strength across infield.

Isaiah Henrichs, LHP/1B, Carlisle, 2019
5-foot-9, 200-pound right-handed hitting 2-way player. 4.9 home-to-first time. Shoulder load, narrow base, tends to spin through contact, strong at contact, shows pop in bat, pull side approach, 89 mph exit velocity. Sure hands and confident fielder, works through ball, solid footwork and actions around bag, 78 mph arm across infield. 

Hank Himrich, SS, Dowling Catholic, 2020
5-foot-9, 155-pound left-handed hitting shortstop. 4.71 home-to-first time. Square stance, body load, clean bat path, pull approach with fly ball contact, flashes of solid pop, 81 mph exit velocity. Clean arm action with accuracy and strength, tends to move flat-footed, solid actions, 82 mph arm strength across infield.

Jacob Iseminger, 1B/LHP, Panorama, 2019
6-foot-3, 305-pound right-handed hitting 2-way player. 5.6 home-to-first time. Simple swing, hands hover over plate, loses balance occasionally in swing, fly ball hitter, present strength, and has solid pop in bat, 84 mph exit velocity. Decent hands, works to get to short hop, large target at bag, solid footwork and receives throws well, 70 mph arm strength across field. 

Brodie Kresser, SS, Jesup, 2021
5-foot-9, 125-pound right-handed hitting shortstop. 4.7 home-to-first time. Athletic in box, short to contact, pull approach, hard ground ball contact, tends to spin off occasionally, 78 mph exit velocity. Plays low to ground, solid actions for age, sure hands, clean arm action, accurate to bag, 71 mph arm across infield. Follow in 2021 class.

Cauy Massner, SS, Mediapolis, 2019
5-foot-11, 155-pound right-handed hitting infielder. 4.84 home-to-first time. Pre-set weight, slight rhythm in load, limited use of lower half in swing, pull approach, produces spray contact, 76 mph exit velocity. Works through ball, clean exchanges with quick release, accurate to bag, solid actions, 72 mph arm across infield.

Chandler Matos, 2B, Muscatine, 2019
5-foot-11, 174-pound right-handed hitting infielder. 4.88 home-to-first time. Crouched stance, low hand slot, works middle of field, inconsistent contact during batting practice, 78 mph exit velocity. Aggressive routes, works through ball, sure hands with quick exchanges, ability to throw from multiple angles, solid right-side infielder, 72 mph arm across infield.

Merritt McCardle, SS/RHP, 2019
6-foot-1, 170-pound right-handed hitting 2-way player. 4.53 home-to-first time. Slight crouch, athletic actions in box, creates bat speed, pull approach, produces fly balls to gap with pop in bat, 86 mph exit velocity. Raw actions in field, tends to stop to field, loses momentum and direction to bag creating accuracy issues, athletic enough and should continue to develop in field, 75 mph arm strength across infield.

Adam Metivier, SS/RHP, Davenport Assumption, 2019
5-foot-11, 150-pound right-handed hitting 2-way player. 4.4 home-to-first time. Open stance, active hand load, twitchy actions, shows bat speed, hard pull contact, line drive and ground ball production, 83 mph exit velocity. Works around and through baseball, solid actions, sure hands, follows throws across, with quick release, 77 mph arm across infield.

Alec Nigut, OF/1B/LHP, Des Moines Roosevelt, 2020
6-foot, 175-pound left-handed hitting 2-way player. 4.68 home-to-first time. Double tap trigger, creates linear direction, clean bat path, barrels ball consistently to both gaps, shows ability at the plate, 88 mph exit velocity. Works through ball in outfield, has body control, solid carry and accuracy on throws, 81 mph arm from outfield. Sure hands at first base, moves around bag well, confident fielder, 78 mph arm across infield.

Lucas Olson, RHP/2B, Carlisle, 2019
5-foot-10, 150-pound right-handed hitting 2-way player. 5.14 home-to-first time. Square stance, longer stride, lays bat down creating flat bat path, avg. pop, consistent solid contact, 79 mph exit velocity. Works low to ground, fields out front, quick release on throws solid actions, 74 mph arm strength across infield.

Noah Van Veldhuizen, RHP/3B, Oskaloosa, 2020
6-foot-2, 205-pound right-handed hitting 2-way player. 4.76 home-to-first time. Closed stance, strides to square, lower hand slot, works up through baseball, has present strength, flashes pop in bat, 93 mph exit velocity. Moves flat footed with heavier feet, sure hands, plays tall at position, has carry and accuracy to bag, 80 mph arm across infield.

Blake Wheeler, SS, Cedar Rapids Prairie, 2018
5-foot-6, 126-pound right-handed hitting infielder. 4.6 home-to-first time. Open stance, leg kick trigger, shoulder load, short to contact, decent pop in bat, spray hitter, works gaps, with consistent solid contact, 73 mph exit velocity.
