Mizuno Pitcher of the Week: Week 1
February 27, 2023
Each week during the high school season, we will be announcing the Mizuno Pitcher and Player of the Week for that particular week. Numerous players across the state continue to put up impressive numbers both as position players and pitchers on the mound. This year, we will be selecting one Pitcher of the Week and one Player of the Week based on nominations from high school coaches across the state. Special thank you to Mizuno for sponsoring both awards this season and for the high school coaches who nominated their players for this award.
Continuing from last year, we will also be highlighting other players from across the state in our Alabama Diamond Notes that we will release each Tuesday. Our Diamond Notes will highlight other players nominated by high school coaches that are deserving of recognition that were not named Mizuno Pitcher or Player of the Week.

Stats from Week 1
+ LHP Will Adams (Hoover, 2026) turned in back-to-back dominant outings on the mound in his first two varsity starts against two formidable opponents to start his freshman campaign. Adams, an Alabama recruit and Top-5 ranked prospect in the young freshman class in AL, was tasked with facing off against Bob Jones and Corona Del Sol (AZ) over the past week and a half and combined to throw 10 IP, 2 H, 0 ER, and 16 K's while going 1-0 after earning the no-decision against the Patriots in the PBR AL Kickoff Classic. Given the quality of opponents the young freshman southpaw matched up against, it's even more impressive to see him have such success against a pair of strong offensive clubs. Adams, who ran his fastball up to 87 mph in his first start, will look to continue to provide quality innings on the mound for a strong Hoover squad for the rest of the season.
