PBR Alabama Players of the Week: April 5-10

As high schools across the state are in the midst of playing their most important games (area series) of the season, numerous players performed at a high level for their respective team. These players are performing at the highest level during the most important time of the season. Congratulations to the players below that have earned "PBR Alabama Players of the Week" for April 5-10. Thanks to the high school coaches that nominated players for this past week. This week we have 10 positional players,  4 pitcher only's and 4 two way players on the list. 

 

PBR ALABAMA PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

 

POSITIONAL PLAYERS:

Brody Capps (2022, 1B, Central Phenix City) Capps hit an even .500 (5-10) for the week and helped the Red Devils sweep an area series vs. Smiths Station. This included 1 2B with 6 RBI while also stealing a base.  

+ Trey Higgins (2021, OF, Oxford) The Mississippi State signee put up numeorus extra base hits on the week. During the Yellow Jackets area series, Higgins was 3-7 with 2 HR with one of those being a grand slam. He also delivered a 2B, drove in 5 runs and scored 6 runs of his own. The senior also walked 3 times and had 3 stolen bases. 

Andy Howard (2024, OF, Albertville) The freshman helped the Aggies sweep their first area series vs. Huntsville by going 7-10 with 3 2B. He also drove in 4 runs and scored 2 more runs. 

Cooper Jarvis (2024, 2B, Gardendale) Another freshman on the list that has enjoyed some success of late. Jarvis was 7-9 on the week with 1 2B and 7 RBI. He also scored 3 runs and walked one time. 

Colton Pahman (2022, 1B, Faith Christian) Pahman finds his name on the list again this week after another successful week. The junior hit 2 HR on the week while going 5-8 with 6 RBI. He also had 1 3B, 2 SB and scored 6 runs while also walking 3 times. 

Justin Powell (2022, 1B, Ohatchee) The junior 1B was 6-9 during the week with 3 2B. He continues to help Ohatchee by producing in the lineup with 5 RBI and also walked 3 times. Powell also scored 5 runs during the week, 

+ Max Soliz, Jr (2021, C, Bob Jones) The Arkansas signee had a big week with the bat while also throwing out the only 2 base runners that attempted to steal a base against him. Soliz was 6-9 on the week with 1 2B and 1 HR while driving in 7 runs. He also walked once and was hit-by-pitch once as well. 

+ Daniel Stewart (2021, C, Hazel Green) Wallace was simply on fire this week as he was 11-14 during the week. The Wallace-Hanceville signee had 4 2B and also drove in 5 runs for the Trojans, helping them to an improtant area sweep of Athens. Stewart also scored 5 runs. 

+ Alex Wade (2022, OF, Madison Academy) The Madison Academy Mustangs seem to be playing their best baseball of the season at the most important time, and Wade is part of that reason. The Auburn commit was 9-14 during the week with 5 2B, 1 3B and 1 HR. Wade drove in 8 runs and stole 5 bases. 

+ Presley White (2021 OF, Westbrook Christian) White had a fantastic week with the bat as he collected 6 hits in 7 at-bats. Of those 6 hits, 2 were HR and another was a 2B. He scored 5 runs and drove in 8 more runs for the Warriors.  

 

 

PITCHER ONLY:

+ Connor Ball (2021, LHP, Chelsea) The senior southpaw twirled a no hitter this week in area play vs. Homewood. The Alabama signee did not allow a hit over 7 innings (CG) and struck out 14 hitters while only issuing 2 walks. 

+ Maddux Bruns (2021, LHP, UMS Wright) Bruns just continues to pile up the strikeout numbers with his dominant stuff on the mound. The Mississippi State signee scattered 5 hits over 7 innings (CG win) against a quality St. Paul's team for an area win. Bruns allowed 1 ER and struck out 18 hitters. 

+ Ben Capps (2022, RHP, Gordo) Capps threw the important Game 3 (tiebreaker) vs. then No. 1 American Christian Academy and got the win to clinch the area championship. The junior tossed a complete game shutout, allowing 6 hits and no runs to go along with 10 K. He currently has a 33.2 innings scoreless streak on the mound. 

+ Thrasher Steed (2022, RHP, Gulf Shores) Steed appears on the list again after pitching a complete game (7 IP) 1-hitter in area play vs. Baldwin County. He did not allow a run and did not walk anyone. The UAB commit had 3 K during the win. 

 

TWO-WAY PLAYERS:

Will Cannon (2021, RHP/DH, Central Phenix-City) The Georgia State signee helped the Red Devils gain an area sweep vs. Smiths Station as he went 5.1 innings on the mound, getting the win in G1. He allowed 1 run and struck out 4 hitters. With the bat, Cannon was 4-9 with a stolen base in the series. 

Dillon Cook (2021, LHP/1B, Grissom) Cook was 7-10 this week as the Grissom Tigers were able to take 2 out of the 3 in an important area series with Sparkman. The Troy signee was 7-10 with the bat with 1 2B and 2 RBI. The southpaw threw 2.2 innings of scoreless relief to get the win as the Tigers came back to win Game 3. 

Samuel Dutton (2021, RHP/OF, Westbrook Christian)  Dutton seems to have his name on the list a ton, for very good reason. The LSU signee was threw a perfect game (5 IP) this week with 13 K as he only needed 53 pitches (45 strikes) to secure the win. With the bat, Dutton was 3-6 with a HR and a 2B, while driving in 4 runs. He also walked 2 times. 

Will Noles (2021, 3B/RHP, Westbrook Christian) Noles gives the Warriors a solid 1-2 punch on the mound as the senior UAH signee threw a CG (5 IP) no-hitter this week with 12 K and no walks. Noles collected 5 hits in 8 at-bats this week with a HR and 2 2B. He also drove in 4 runs.
