PBRT Alabama Open: Day 3 Standouts

PBR Alabama Staff

ALBERTVILLE, AL - The PBRT Alabama Open wrapped up play with bracket play and some consolation games on Sunday in Albertville, AL at the state-of-the-art Sand Mountain Sports Complex, which features four artificial-turf fields. It was another picture-perfect day of baseball with great weather for the final day of play over the two age divisions (15U & 17U). Our scouts were on hand for all games played, and there were plenty of standout performances throughout the day, both at the plate and on the mound. Teams and players were well-represented throughout the southeast part of the country, making for a perfect day of baseball.

OF Miller Spence, Knoxville Catholic (TN), 2023
Uncommitted. 5-foot-9, 165-pounds, athletic & compact frame, top-of-the-order type presence. Saved his best for last this past weekend hitting in the leadoff spot for Diamond-Simcox 17U with a two-RBI triple down the RF line in the later innings to extend their lead in the 17U Championship. Starts upright with his stance hitting in the left side of the box, uses a quick toe tap trigger for load, meets ball in the middle of the zone with a quick barrel with a bit of an upward finish. Plays the game hard and fast.

OF Mason Steele, Headland (AL), 2023
Uncommitted. 6-foot-3, 175-pounds, length in the frame, long limbs, plenty of room for added strength in the future. Really intriguing left-handed hitting outfielder with some above average tools. Shown the ability to for average from the left side, tallying six total hits on the weekend hitting near the top of the order for Post Baseball 17U, and should also see more power over the next few years as he continues to get stronger. Runs well for a 6-foot-3, 175-pound frame, showed above average arm strength from the outfield on throws to home plate.

RHP/INF William Webb, Hardin Valley (TN), 2023
Uncommitted. 6-foot-0, 150-pounds, athletic and wiry frame, did a number of things well in the 17U Championship with intriguing two-way ability. Facing a talented lineup filled with quality left-handed hitters, Webb was efficient going 6 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 2 BB & 3 Ks en route to earning the W while needing just 80 pitches. He worked around the 82-84 mph range early on with tailing action, mixed in low-70’s breaking ball with 11-5 shape, and turned over a few quality changeups at 78 mph. Helped out his cause offensively going 2-for-3 with an RBI and run scored for Diamond-Simcox 17U.

C/SS Jack Watts, Ensworth (TN), 2024
6-foot-1, 170-pounds, lean makeup to his frame with some more room to develop and grow. The left-handed hitting rising junior showed the ability to hit for some power in the USA Prime Midsouth matchup yesterday morning, allowing the hands and barrel to work to the outer-half of the zone and crushed a solo shot to left-center for home run. Watts also turned in three additional RBI’s over the weekend.

OF/1B Seth Parsons, Gibson Southern (IN), 2025
6-foot-1, 185-pounds, was one of the top hitters over the weekend in Albertville. Parsons collected eight total hits over the three day span, along with two doubles and a total of five RBI’s. In the semifinal matchup for Razorbacks Baseball 2025 Schapker, the right-handed hitter got things going for the offense in the early going by finding a hole through the left-side of the infield for an RBI single. Parsons played a big part offensively in his team reaching the 15U Championship this weekend.

OF/RHP Ethan Mansfield, North Posey (IN), 2025
6-foot-0, 180-pounds, identified himself as a threat to opposing pitchers over the weekend with his ability to put the barrel on the baseball. The upcoming sophomore displayed his power and strength from the right-side of the box. Mansfield gathered a total of eight hits for the Indiana Spikes, two of his eight barrels resulting in a home run, while also driving in six total RBI’s.
