Scouting Report

Jackson Sweatt (2021, C/RHP, Pell City) 6’2 190 lbs- 7.10.18- did a number of good things at the event. He ran the 60 in 7.58 and was very impressive during the morning workout behind the plate. He seems to be light on his feet and moves extremely well behind the dish. His pop time ranged from 2.03-2.11 (best at the event) with a 79 mph C velo and just about every throw was right on the bag. As a hitter, he had an exit velocity off of a tee at 83 mph and showed some juice at the plate during BP with balls driven all over the field. Had good at bats during game play. He threw one inning during the game and featured a FB that sat at 78-79 and topped at 80 mph. His curveball was good at times at 69-70 mph. A catcher to watch in the 2021 class.

PBR Alabama: What are you looking for in a school?
Jackson: I am looking for a good education with a solid baseball program and coaching staff.
PBR Alabama: What were some of your highlights last year at Pell City?
Jackson: The highlights for me last year would definitely be making it to the 2nd round of the playoffs. Not many people thought that we would make it there but our team was really clicking. It was also pretty cool to pitch in Game 3 of the 1st round vs. Athens. I was also very honored to be named on the 6A All-State Team as a DH. It was my first year batting leadoff so I had to have a different mental approach. I was more focused on working the count and setting the tone for my teammates.
PBR Alabama: What are some goals you have set for yourself this year?
Jackson: On the mound, I have being doing throwing programs and hope to get my velocity into the upper 80's by the spring. At catcher, I want to get my pop time consistently under 2.0.
PBR Alabama: What do you expect from Pell City this year?
Jackson: I believe that we will have a really strong team this year. We have some really solid upperclassmen that have experience. We hope to go farther into the playoffs this year.
PBR Alabama: What is your GPA and have you taken the ACT?
Jackson: I have a 4.0 GPA and I am taking the ACT in January.
PBR Alabama: What did you enjoy about the two PBR events you attended?
Jackson: The PBR events are very organized. The coaches and staff are amazing. It's really cool to get to play with guys from all over the state.
PBR Alabama: What would you say is your primary position?
Jackson: I normally showcase as a C or P but during the season I will play every position on the field.
