Everything was nice and easy on the mound with tremendous spin rates on the fastball and tons of movement on the pitch. The fastball was up to 84 mph and spin rates low 2200’s- mid 2300’s. He threw a slider that took nice shape with tight spin at 69-70 mph. The change up showed nice tumble to the arm side. Gillespie has nice feel for pitching. Open stance with the feet and slight crouch in his stance while the hands show nice rhythm in the load with plenty of bat speed. He was 91 mph exit velocity off the tee and showed some nice juice to the pull side. The barrel stays in the hitting zone for a long time. The ‘22 grad was also 84 mph across to the 1B bag and the glove presentation and foot work are solid defensively. A ‘22 to follow that has really improved over the last year.

Clean arm path and nice delivery from a high ¾ arm slot. The FB stays down in the zone consistently at 81-82 mph and bumping 83 mph a few times. Everything he threw was around the plate and he had a quick, clean inning of work. The breaking ball has slider type action with sharp “bite” at 71-72 mph. The CH was 72-73 mph with deception. Could be a very interesting ‘22 arm. Fluid, athletic actions in the dirt and the glove presentation is solid. Does a nice job getting himself in position for a nice hop and has nice arm strength across the dirt, with a quick transfer. At the plate, starts with an open, crouched stance and does a nice job getting the hands back to launch the swing. Showed nice gap to gap power with a slightly tilted swing path.

Begins from an open stance before coming back to square in his swing. Looks like he really prefers to go opposite field during his BP, which is not a bad thing. Short, simple swing. Really stays inside the ball. Like his approach during his BP round. Posted an 87 mph exit velo off a tee. His feet worked well at SS to go along with solid hands. Average arm strength at 81 mph.

Another young player (2022) at the event that showed some solid skills. He was fundamentally solid in all aspects during drills at SS. The arm slot is solid and the strength will be there down the road. Did a nice job created momentum to 1B with his feet. Offensively, he had a short, compact approach with the barrel and keep the bat through the zone. His set up was nice with an even stance and his hands get back to the launch position. 2B to the LF fence in the game
