Last weekend the Prep Baseball Report Louisiana staff was on hand for the Louisiana Scout Day at Fontainebleau high school. Weather forced the program indoors for the majority of weekend, but our scouting staff was given a good look at the program, all things considering,
Earlier this week we discussed a few of the players for the Knights Scout Day, as well as the Marucci Class. Today we discuss a few more players from the weekend’s happenings, as we continue to shuffle through our notes, and get ready to go right back on the road again.
+ Brennan Cortez, RHP, Louisiana Knights 18U. 2017
Stockt 5-foot-11, 180-pound frame. Medium arm stroke into high-3/4 release with quick arm speed and regular effort. Solid delivery with rhythm, level shoulders, and in-line direction. Threw a bullpen session on Friday, sitting 86-88 mph with his fastball, showing solid late life on the pitch. Displayed two different breaking balls, a slider with 10/4 shape, tight spin, and sharp break at 77-80 mph. As well as, a curveball with 11/5 shape and occasional depth at 70-72 mph. Returned on Saturday in a 2-inning outing, sitting 84-86 mph with his fastball.

Long 6-foot-5, 200-pound frame, athletic build, long levers. Medium arm stroke into ¾ release with quick arm speed and regular effort. Developing delivery with solid rhythm and tempo, creates deception as he works across his body at times. Pitched at 86-89 mph with his fastball, showing cutting action on the pitch. Also mixed in a slider that lacked depth presently at 77-78 mph.
+ Brady Jones, RHP/C, Louisiana Knights 18U, 2017
Louisiana-Lafayette recruit. Strong 6-foot-2, 190-pound frame, athletic build. Did not see much mound time this spring for the class 5A state champions, Central(BR), because of an injury and his catching responsibilities. However, he flashed present stuff on the mound Saturday, pitching at 89-91 mph with lightning quick arm speed, and flashed a hard, sharp slider at 79-80 mph. Look for Jones to be a potential two-way player for the Cajuns in the future.

Athletic 5-foot-11, 175-pound frame, strong build. Clean, easy arm action into high-3/4 release with little effort. Clean delivery with fluid rhythm, level shoulders, in-line direction and lands square. Advanced pitchability, attacks both sides of the plate with the fastball, which sat 84-87 mph during his outing. Breaking ball is still developing, but showed feel for the pitch with 1/7 shape, solid spin, and depth at 64-68 mph. Also flashed quality changeup with fastball arm speed and hard fade action at 73-75 mph.
+ Landon Rascoe, RHP, Louisiana Knights 16U Green (MS), 2019
Athletic 5-foot-11, 170-pound frame, lean build, twitchy athlete, long limbs, projects well. Long, loose arm stroke into high-3/4 release with lightning quick arm speed and normal effort. Fluid rhythm to the delivery, high balance point, in-line direction and lands athletically. Fastball sat 86-87 mph with late life through the zone. Breaking ball showed sharpness with 10/4 shape, depth and tight spin at 73-74 mph. Highly athletic right-hander that is still very much in the development, but showed potential high level stuff on the mound.
