+ LHP Chase Cartron (Huntsville, 2024) got the start in the season opener for the Panthers and turned in a dominant four inning outing. The 6’6 219 pound southpaw cruised through his outing in a stress-free outing as he established the fastball early and continued to dominate hitters, dominating with the fastball. In the first two innings, the Troy University signee featured the pitch at 88-91 mph and bumped 92 mph on one pitch. He was able to locate the pitch to both halves of the plate which showed some occasional arm-side action. While not needing the pitch very often, Cartron mixed in a sharp-breaking slider (76-77 mph) that he used as a swing-and-miss offering. The slider is a major weapon versus LH hitters while also “back-footed” RH hitters as they swung over the top of it. The senior southpaw will give the Panthers a chance to win every time he takes the mound. His final line for the night: 4 IP (W), 0 hits, 0 runs, 2 BBs, 11 Ks.
