Mizuno Player of the Week: Week 1

Prep Baseball Alabama Staff

Each week during the high school season, we will be announcing the Mizuno Pitcher and Player of the Week for that particular week. Numerous players across the state continue to put up impressive numbers both as position players and pitchers on the mound. This year, we will be selecting one Pitcher of the Week and one Player of the Week based on nominations from high school coaches across the state. Special thank you to Mizuno for sponsoring both awards this season and for the high school coaches who nominated their players for this award.

Continuing from last year, we will also be highlighting other players from across the state in our Alabama Diamond Notes that we will release each Wednesday. Our Diamond Notes will highlight other players nominated by high school coaches that are deserving of recognition that were not named Mizuno Pitcher or Player of the Week.

Mizuno Week 1 Player of the Week

Cayden Boutwell SS / OF / Enterprise , AL / 2025

Helping lead Enterprise to 4-2 record and making their debut at No. 10 in the Class 7A Top-10 Poll over the course of opening week, Boutwell put up some video-game numbers in the process to be named the Mizuno Player of the Week for Week 1. Hitting at the top of the Wildcats' order, the uncommitted junior and top-125 ranked propsect in the 2025 class in AL posted an absurd .737 batting average going 14-for-19 on the week. Of those 14 hits, four of those were doubles, five (!) were home runs, and he also drove in 19 runs over the course of the week. In addition to that stat line, he also scored 12 times, walked four times, and stole two bases, as well. On Saturday, he tied the AHSAA record with four home runs in four consecutive at-bats, and went 8-for-8 with three doubles, five home runs, and 14 runs batted in. It's hard to get off to a better start than Boutwell, as he will no doubt be a prospect for college recruiters to get their eyes on this spring.
