NORTHPORT, AL - The PBT River Run Fall Classic took center stage at River Run Park in Northport, Alabama, from September 12-13, bringing together several teams from across the region for a competitive weekend of summer baseball. Featuring 13U-18U divisions, the event provided players with an opportunity to compete against quality opponents while continuing to build momentum heading into the heart of the fall schedule.

Over two days of action, teams battled through pool play and bracket competition, showcasing a talented collection of prospects from across Alabama and neighboring states. With Prep Baseball staff on hand throughout the event, the tournament served as an important evaluation opportunity while also highlighting many of the players who are poised for strong summers on the travel circuit. As always, River Run Park provided a tremendous setting for high-level competition, with numerous standout performances emerging throughout the weekend.

+ OF Kailen Hamilton (Birmingham Giants 15u, 2029) put together a strong offensive performance, leading off game 1 with a sharp line drive to right field for a triple. He showed a short, compact swing with a direct path to the baseball and continued to produce hard contact throughout the day. Hamilton came through again with a sharply hit RBI single to left field, adding another big hit to his performance. He consistently stayed on the barrel and controlled the zone, finishing with his second multi-hit game of the day and providing quality at-bats from start to finish.

+ INF Carson Sharnprapai (Bulls Baseball - Nelson, 2029) put together an impressive two-way performance, coming through with a 2-RBI double into left-center late in the game. Working from an open stance, he got his foot down early and delivered a big swing to drive the ball into the gap. He also took the start on the mound, throwing 3.1 innings while allowing just one hit and zero earned runs. Sharnprapai made an impact in both the batter’s box and on the mound, helping his team win the game.

+ OF Andrew Thompson (Hoover Bucs, 2028) Quick-twitch, athletic outfielder who impressed on both sides of the ball. Showed quality range and instincts defensively with clean actions and the ability to cover plenty of ground, making several impressive plays throughout the weekend. Served as a catalyst from the leadoff spot for the Hoover Bucs, consistently producing quality at-bats with a competitive approach and strong barrel feel. Well-rounded athlete who impacts the game in multiple ways.

+ SS Foster Phillips (Birmingham Giants, 2029) High-motor middle infielder who impressed with his athleticism and instincts throughout the weekend. Made several quality plays at shortstop, showing good range, clean actions, and a willingness to make plays from multiple angles. Offensively, collected multiple hits while consistently competing in the box, showing a quality approach and the ability to put together productive at-bats.

+ C Wyatt Rath (Druid City Redbirds, 2027) Put together a strong weekend at the plate, collecting multiple hits while consistently producing quality at-bats. Brings an aggressive approach with a violent swing that generates plenty of intent through the zone and allows him to impact the baseball. Behind the dish, continued to show clean actions and athleticism with a consistent defensive presence throughout the weekend.

+ RHP DJ Parker (Birmingham Giants, 2029) Parker impressed on the mound Sunday, working 3.1 innings with nine strikeouts while allowing three hits. At 6-foot-3, he possesses a long, projectable frame with plenty of physical development still ahead. Works downhill from a low three-quarter slot and showed the ability to fill up the zone with a deep arsenal. The fastball worked consistently at 84-85 mph and reached 86, pairing it with a 73-74 mph curveball, a harder slider at 83, and an 80-82 mph cutter. The combination of present stuff, frame, and arm strength gives Parker considerable upside on the mound and makes him a name to follow closely in Alabama’s 2029 class.

+ RHP/UTIL Jack Crook (Excel Blue Wave 16U, 2029) Crook delivered quality at-bats throughout the weekend, highlighted by a three-hit performance on Sunday that included a pair of RBI doubles to the backside in the championship game. Possesses a tall, projectable frame with a controlled stride and uses his length and hand speed well to stay through the baseball and work to all fields. He also made an impact on the mound, striking out four while allowing two hits and two earned runs across three innings. A productive two-way weekend for Crook, who played a key role in helping the Blue Wave secure the championship.

+ SS Boston Tubby (81 Baseball, 2030) Tubby put together a solid all-around performance, making an impact on both sides of the ball. Delivered a key two-run hit to get the scoring started while consistently producing competitive, quality at-bats throughout the game. Defensively, showed athleticism and comfort on the left side of the infield, making several quality plays at third base.

+ OF Kweli Lewis (DC Elite, 2030) Lewis turned in an impressive all-around performance in game two, setting the tone with a stand-up triple to deep center field before coming around to score. Showed quick hands and a level path at the plate, producing consistent quality contact throughout the day. Defensively, displayed excellent range and instincts in center field, making several athletic plays while also showing off a strong, accurate arm with throws to third and home. Lewis’ impact on both sides of the ball helped lead DC Elite to an 11-1 win.

+ RHP/UTIL Russ Turner (DC Elite, 2031) Turner made an impact on both sides of the ball in game two, collecting a pair of doubles, including a two-run double in his first at-bat. Showed a strong, balanced setup with the ability to make consistent hard contact and drive the baseball. On the mound, displayed impressive composure while generating strikeouts and controlling the running game with a pickoff at first. Allowed just one run during his outing, helping DC Elite secure an 11-1 win.
