Eastern Oklahoma Picks Up Commitment from Infielder

By: Zac Bottoms
Arkansas Scouting Director

2017 infielder Reed Shepherd committed to Eastern Oklahoma. Sheppard jumped on my radar as a participant in the 2015 Top Prospects Games at Arvest Ballpark. After that I event I was able to watch him play multiple times for North Little Rock HS as they won the 7A East this spring again this summer for the Arkansas Prospect. Below you find my scouting report on Shepherd.

2017 INF Reed Shepherd, North Little Rock HS
Shepherd is a 5-foot-9 160-pound infielder with an athletic frame and build. Defensively he plays through the baseball with fluid footwork and solid actions. He throws the ball from a H ¾ arm slot with a short quick arm action. He shows accuracy across the infield. Offensively he starts from a tall stance with a slight leg kick. He attacks the baseball with fast bat speed with short line drive swing. He has a feel to hit the ball to all fields. Overall Shepherd is a solid baseball player that competes at a very high level.
