Prep Baseball Report

Fall Focus; Overview

By: Zac Bottoms
Arkansas Scouting Director

August ends this week and we will begin to get out and see players this fall. The fall is always big for our staff as we have a few items we need to check off our list. Here is a preview of what we will be out looking for this fall.

2018: The senior class always has a lot going on. We will be tracking players commitments and looking for the players that might be flying under the radar in hopes to provide them exposure needed to compete the goal they have worked on for so long. The task that may be more challenging this fall than your typical year, is to keep track of the committed players and see who has turned themselves into a legitimate pro prospect. This class has several players who have set themselves up for the fall and spring to be big for them prior to the MLB draft in June.

2019: This class is easy, continue to cover the class in preparation for the summer, when most colleges will turn their attention to this class. The group at the top has solidified themselves as top prospects not only in the state but on a national scale. The next wave of players is coming on strong and is primed to make some noise on the field in the fall and on the recruiting trail. It will be interesting to see this class continue to shake itself out.

2020: A class with a ton of expectations, that is performing well on the field. This class is one of the more offensively advanced classes I have seen at this point in time. The state of Arkansas typically produces more high end arms than hitters. That leaves some intrigue to see what pitchers will emerge as a front line arm. The position players will be interesting to watch, are they as advanced as it appears or were they physically mature freshman that may plateau throughout their high school career. Hoping to see. I also expect recruiting to wrap up for a few of the biggest names on  board, so we will be watching to how that plays out.

2021: This class is similar to the 2019; we need to see them play as much as possible, to help us identify as many players as possible. Recruiting starts earlier and earlier, we pride ourselves on being the most knowledgeable, so our staff will have to cover a lot of ground with 2021 as quickly as possible. We are hosting an event strictly for 2021 and 2022s so we can continue to be have the most knowledge, and be the first t have the knowledge on the young players.

We will work hard to cover as many events as possible, from our full fall schedule, to other tournaments and showcases throughout the reason. Please look into our fall events if you want to guarantee our staff has an opportunity to see you play.
