Natural State Games: 2019 Player Spotlight

By; Zac Bottoms
Arkansas Scouting Director

The Natural State Games are October 27th and 28th at the University of Central Arkansas in Conway, Arkansas. This event will feature some of the premiere talent from all corners of the state. As we move closer to the event, I wanted to highlight some of the players, to keep an eye on;

2019 OF Alex Cauley, will stand out as an offensive outfielder. Cauley has consistently impressed with a compact swing and a feel for the barrel. This will be his third appearance in this event as he was invited as freshman and held his as an up and comer, I look forward to seeing him take over an event as veteran. Here is a look at his profile.

Scouting Report

All-State Games 11.1.15

Cauley is a 5-foot-9 160-pound outfielder/right-handed pitcher with an athletic frame and skinny build. He held his ground at the All-State Games being one of the youngest participants. Offensively he starts from a slightly open stance, he dives back into the plate getting online. He has a line drive swing that allows him to hit the ball to all fields. He produces exit velocity up 82 mph. Defensively he shows good instincts and plays through the baseball. He has smooth exchange and accurate arm throwing the ball 79 mph from the outfield. On the mound he worked efficiently pounding the strike zone with a fastball of 78-81 mph and a curveball thrown 62-66 mph with 11/5 shape. Overall Cauley is one of the more gifted players in the 2019 class as he continues to grow and add strength I believe he will turn into a solid college player.
