Natural State Games: Roster Preview Team Grey
October 26, 2017
The Natural State Games are this Saturday and Sunday. Saturday will be hosted at Lamar Porter Field in Little Rock, AR and Sunday will be at the University of Central Arkansas, in Conway. The Black team will play 5:00 PM on Saturday and will compete at 11:15 and 1:30 on Sunday. Let us take a look, the roster for Team Grey.
2018’s
This is a group of unsigned seniors that are trending up. I expect some of them to make some noise in this event. RHP Blake Pschier impressed in the Arkansas Open Showcase at the beginning of the month with solid fastball command up to 85 mph and a solid feel for his secondary pitches. Academically he has advanced test scores and should be hot commodity after this event. Parker Edwards is a long athlete which projects on the mound with a mid-80’s fastball with a short arm action. OF Garrett Mayhem is an advanced runner with solid defensive skills. Connor Boyle has good reviews, I have limited knowledge on and I am intrigued to see myself. Bo Carter is a well-rounded player from Greene Co Tech HS with a fee to hit and commands the strike zone on a consistent basis.
2019’s
C William Poppy is a name to watch. Poppy shows advanced arm strength and is solid defensively. Offensively he attacks the baseball with fast bat speed and an uphill swing. He has shown the ability to hit for power to the pull side. OF Alex Cauley is an above average athlete with a feel to hit. I have been on high on Cauley for two years, I am ready for him to translate, his batting practice rounds and athleticism into in game production on a consistent basis.
2020’s
Like most 2020’s I need more information to make a true evaluation. This group has some players that have caught my eye throughout the summer and fall.
Garrett Hatfield; He showed advanced athleticism at the Underclass Games over the summer, and logged varsity time at Central HS as a freshman
Kalen Forst; A large framed right-hander with arm strength he has been erratic at times but the raw tools are there. He logged significant innings for Charleston last spring. I believe in time the command will come as he learns to control his large frame.
Cade Rogers; A physical player from Valley View High School who turned heads this summer for the Memphis Tigers, and has come highly recommended but numerous talent evaluators in the region.
Justin Graham; A left-handed pitcher from Cabot High School. He shows an advanced feel for the strike zone with multiple pitches. I am interested to see him against better competition.
2021’s
Brandon Arledge, LHP from Sheridan High School. Arledge is coming off an impressive performance in the Futures Showcase where he earned an invite to this event. He works off a fastball with late life which works 78-81 mph and has shown a feel for his breaking ball.
