PBR Classic Days 1 & 2 - Pitchers

The 2022 PBR Classic has been a hotbed for uncommitted arms looking for their opportunity to shine on the biggest stage in the Southeast. Here’s a look at some of our staff’s favorites from the first few days of the tournament, headlined by several underclassmen and even a few who have yet to reach high school.

Daniel Sams, RHP, Lovett School, 2024 (ATL Lightning)
Uncommitted. The 6 foot 2, 150 pounder with long levers has impressive pitchability from a balanced, all stretch delivery that works downhill w/ deep full circle AA (hi 3/4 slot). It was very refreshing to see a young arm using his secondary stuff just as often as the 4 seamer. He didn’t give in to a single hitter and is completely unpredictable as far as pitch sequence. FB 84-85 T86 located to both edges w/ run. CB 70-72 tight rotation, late 2 plane bite. CH 75-77 fade+sink. Sams can bring tons of versatility to a college pitching staff.


Dillon Stiltner, RHP, Trinity Christian, 2025 (Klutch Baseball)
Uncommitted. The 6 foot 2, 165 pounder is an exceptional athlete with broad shoulders and a lengthy frame. It was a limited but impressive look that started off with his heavy sinker and aggressive mentality breaking a bat the 1st hitter he faced! Stiltner has a mid depth generic (but clean) arm swing that gets into throwing position early. The No. 14 player in our 2025 class creates big torque in a small area from advanced hip/shoulder separation. The projectable righty should continue to make jumps each year, and it will be exciting to see how hard he’s throwing 3 years from now. FB 84-85 T87 heavy sink+run, bore up. CUT 79-80  He is developing this pitch into a SL and I was impressed how he was able to get depth on the pitch in its early stages. Athlete.

 

Hayden Reed, LHP, Bristol, VA, 2027
Uncommited. The 6-foot-0 170-pound 14-year-old showed a lot of poise and confidence on the mound for his age. FB sat in the upper 70’s with natural cutting life and topped out at 81mph. Athletic mover with traits that project for him to throw a lot harder in the future. Advanced glove side mechanics/timing for his age. Timing of the lower half allows him to keep good direction to home plate. Flashed a sweepy SL in the high 60’s that will only get better as the arm speed and body matures. Exciting prospect to follow for the ‘27 class!

 

Amos Rich, RHP, Waynesville, NC, 2026
Uncommitted. 6-1, 165-pound frame. Aggressive front side. Was really impressed at how he continued to display the same intent on the front side when throwing offspeed weapons. Sneaky FB in the 81-84 range that got up to 85mph. FB showed life through the zone and acquired a substantial amount of IZM’s (in zone misses/swings). It is an athletic frame/arm talent that will only get stronger as his highschool years go on. Will be fun to see how he develops for summers to come!


Knox Sheppard, RHP, Evans (GA), 2024
Uncommitted. 6-foot-2, 165-pound right-handed pitcher, long, lean frame, lots of room to fill out, athletic build. Arm action is short with a soft stab on the back-side to a high ¾ slot, lightning quick arm speed, ball jumps out of hand at-times. Repeats delivery, works on-line. Fastball sat 86-88, touched 89, 90, running action, located to all parts of the zone, overpowering. Slider, 77-78, sharp, downer action, swing and miss pitch. Changeup, 83.

Wesley Silas, RHP, GSIC (GA), 2025
Uncommitted. 6-foot-1, 172-pound right-handed pitcher, athletically built, strong lower half, plenty of physical development left to do. Arm works short on the back-side, showing low and wide, ultra quick arm speed, over-the-top slot, gets good extension. Keeps front side high and strong, explosive action as stride leg plants. Fastball sat 87-89 with heavy armside run, not afraid to pitch inside, swing and miss. Curveball, 74, only threw one in his short appearance.
Jackson Estes, LHP, North Little Rock (AR), 2025
Uncommitted. 6-foot-2, 185-pound left-handed pitcher, projectable, athletic build, long and lanky with room to fill out. Quick tempo delivery, creates deception striding across the mound, front-side leaks out early, finishes with a heavy cross-over. Short arm action, does a good job hiding the ball on back-side, quick arm speed, high ¾ slot. Fastball sat 85-87 early on, good feel for, locating low in the zone. Curveball, 73, 2/8 shape, potential swing and miss pitch. Changeup, 76.​​
Carson Morton, RHP, West Stanley, NC, 2023 
 Uncommitted. 6-foot-4, 190-pound frame. Primarily worked off FB/CB combo while flashing a few CH to left handed hitters. Big, physical frame. Short 3/4 AA that allows him to hide the ball well. Downhill approach angle from FB which sat 85-87 and topped out at 88mph. CB in the low 70’s that showed 2 plane break at times. Confidence in the pitch will continue to grow as he learns to throw it when behind in the count. Competitor on the mound who was not afraid to establish the heater.
