Unisigned Seniors: Outfielders

By: Zac Bottoms
Arkansas Scouting Director

The early signing period has ended. There are several talented players still available across the state. We look at the top outfielders.

Zach Stanley, OF, Springdale Har-Ber HS
Stanley, a 6-foot-2 185-pound outfielder, has the size and frame that will catch any talent evaluator’s eye. Athletically superior, running a 6.65 in the 60, and a 3.85 home first from the right side.  Defensively is sound with fluid footwork and clean exchange. He throws from a High ¾ arm slot that is accurate and has carry. He registered 83 mph during outfield velocity testing. Offensively, he is raw. He starts from an athletic stance and has a short stride. He has fast bat speed and a level line drive swing. He has choppy rhythm and struggles to use his lower half. Offensively he has a ways to go but he finds barrel and is coachable.

Aaron Fagen, OF, Maumelle HS
The 5-foot-8, 155 pound OF, showed the ability to play multiple positions but has the most upside in the outfield. He ran a 6.78 in the 60. Defensively he has quick feet and an arm with carry. He registered 81 mph from the outfield. His arm is stronger than that if he would work downhill. Offensively he had a short line drive swing. He starts from a balanced stance, he maintains good rhythm and balance throughout the swing.

Christian Neves, OF, Northside HS
Neves, a 6-foot-3, 160- pound OF, showed good instincts in the outfield. He made good reads on balls in the air with fluid foot work. His average arm from a ¾ slot had arm side run, that led to being inaccurate. If he could raise his elbow and stay on top of the ball his arm strength would improve. Neves ran a 6.9 in the 60 and 4.1 home to first. Offensively he look good. He starts from an open stance he has a short stride that he dives in with. When he strides in and is online the swing is short with a line drive path. Some of his swings he closed himself off and the swing became long.

Kuron Summons, OF, Maumelle HS
Summons, is 5-foot 6 a 165-pound is an above average athlete running a 6.7 60. Defensively he gets good reads on balls in the air. He has a good arm with a clean accurate arm. Offensively he has a short left-handed swing with a smooth load and good balance. His bat speed is good but he tends to swing up hill.

Kirk Baugh, OF, White Hall HS
The 6-foot-2, 200-pound OF is a talented dual sport athlete. He runs a 6.68 in the 60. He has good instincts and a strong accurate arm from the outfield. Offensively he is a good athlete that competes at the plate. In high school this has led to success. He does possess good bat speed (90 mph exit velocity) and maintains balance throughout the swing. There are some issues with repeating what he does and incorporating his lower half.
