Unsigned Senior Games: Outfielders

On Saturday August 29th the Unsigned Senior Games were hosted at Hendrix College in Conway, AR. There were 41 players in attendance from all corners of the state. This event was scouted by 15 talented evaluators. Here is a look at the outfielders that participated in the event.

Logan Allen, OF, Bryant HS
Allen is a 5-foot-8 155-pound outfielder with a medium frame and an athletic build. He ran a 6.86 in the 60. Defensively he worked through the baseball with a fluid exchange and an elongated arm action. He threw the ball 82 mph from the outfield accurately to bags. Offensively he starts from athletic stance, he uses a high leg kick as his load. He is some rhythm to his swing and generates fast bat speed. His swing has an uphill bat path. Overall Allen is a well-rounded player with solid athleticism. He should be able to compete at the collegiate level next fall.

Carter Coats, OF, Greenbrier HS
Coats is a 6-foot-1 160-pound outfielder with a medium frame and an athletic build. Offensively he starts from an athletic stance, he has a slight load, he arm bars during his hand load. This causes him to get around the baseball with an uphill swing. Defensively he shows good instincts with choppy foot work and an accurate arm. He threw the ball 80 mph from the outfield. He ran a 7.18 in the 60. Overall Carter is a solid player with some projectablilty. If he adds weight to his frame he profiles to play a corner outfield position at the next level.

Jared Dawson, OF, Dardanelle HS
Dawson is a 6-foot-2 175-pound with a large frame and an athletic build. Defensively he works through the baseball with fluid footwork and a quick arm action. He throws the ball accurately at 81 mph from the outfield. He runs a 7.25 in the 60. Offensively he starts from a tall stance with a limited load. He attacks the baseball with average bat speed with a line drive swing that keeps the barrel in the hit zone for a long time. He has the ability to hit the ball to all fields. Overall Dawson is a well-rounded player that competes at a high level.

Gavin Heltemes, OF/RHP, Prairie Grove HS
Heltemes is a 5-foot-10 170-pound outfielder with a medium frame and an athletic build. He stood out in the event with his overall arm strength throwing the ball 94 mph from the outfield. Besides a big arm he played through the baseball with fluid footwork and a smooth exchange. Offensively He starts from an open stance, as he strides he gets online and attacks the baseball with fast bat speed. He produced exit velocity of 86 mph with a line drive swing. He ran a 6.91 in the 60.Overall Heltemes is a good athlete with a big arm, and a raw offensive game.

Logan Kirkendoll, OF/CIF Cabot HS
Kirkendoll is a 6-foot-1 165-pound OF/1B with a large frame and an athletic build. A player who projects to play a corner outfield or first base with a solid bat. Offensively he starts from a tall stance he loads off a leg kick. He maintains good rhythm and balance throughout his swing. He has slight uphill bat path and shows the ability to hit double to both gaps. Defensively he plays through the baseball, he has an elongated exchange with an accurate arm. Overall Kirkendoll is a solid offensive player who needs to add strength.

Luke Price, OF Dover HS
Price is a 6-foot-2 195-pound outfielder with a large frame and a physical build. Price runs a 6.89 in the 60. He is a solid defender playing through the baseball with fluid footwork he has a smooth exchange and an accurate arm with carry. He threw the ball 84 mph from the outfield. Offensively he has elite bat speed with a slight uphill swing. He has a disconnected lower half but still shows the ball to hit for power. Overall Price is a physical player with a high end tools, as he continues to play the game he projects to play at a high level.

Jordan Reed, OF North Little Rock HS
Reed is a 6-foot 175-pound outfielder with a large frame and an athletic build. He is a solid defender with fluid footwork with a smooth exchange and an accurate arm. He threw the ball 84 mph from the outfield. He ran a 7.19 in the 60. Offensively he starts from a tall stance with a smooth load. He attacks the baseball with a compact swing that produces exit velocity up to 89 mph. His swing allows him to keep the barrel in the hit zone for a long time, giving him the ability to hit the ball to all fields. Overall Reed is a solid player that needs to add strength. As he adds strength he will be able to hit the ball for doubles power.
