Unsigned Senior Showcase Preview: RHP

The Unsigned Senior Games will be August 1st and will be hosted by Arkansas Baptist College at Burns Park in North Little Rock, AR. This event has 32 players registered currently and we will be accepting registrations through Monday afternoon, so there still is time for players to take this opportunity to be seen.

2018 RHP Jacob Davenport, Fayetteville HS
Davenport is a 6-foot 175-pound right-hander with an athletic frame and build. He pitches from H ¾ slot with average arm speed and an arm action with some strength. He commands the strike zone with a fastball which works up to 84 mph, with slight sink. He shows advanced pitch ability commanding a curveball and a changeup consistently. The curveball works 71-73 mph with 11/5 shape and gradual break. The change up is thrown with fastball arm speed at 73-75 mph. Overall Davenport has an advanced feel to pitch and is a solid athlete.

2018 RHP Ty Johnson, Clinton HS
Johnson is a 5-foot-10 170-pund right-hander with an athletic frame and build. He shows a feel to pitch from a side arm, arm slot. He worked consistently 80-82 mph with late sink. He complimented his fastball with a Frisbee slider thrown 71-73 mph with late action. He uses a simple delivery with some effort, consistent rhythm and an athletic finish. Overall Johnson has advanced stuff and shows a feel to compete consistently in the strike zone with two pitches.

2018 RHP Alex Langley, Riverview HS
Langley is a 6-foot-4 right-hander with a large frame and an average build. He pitches from a H ¾ arm with a long arm action and average arm speed. He competes in the strike zone at 82-85 mph. He throws a curveball and changeup as his secondary pitches. The curveball works 72-74 mph with late break and 11/5 action. His changeup is thrown with fastball arm speed. Mechanically he repeats his drop and drive delivery on a consistent basis. He tends to open up the lower half, only getting partial drive on the back side. His rhythm can be choppy at times. Overall Langley is a big body with projection as he cleans somethings up as he matures as a pitcher.

2018 RHP Tucker Sparks, North Little Rock HS
Sparks is a 6-foot-2 180-pound right-hander with a large frame and an athletic build. His fastball worked 80-83 mph up to 84 mph, with slight run. He also threw a change up and curveball for strikes. The change up was thrown with fastball arm speed at 73 mph. The curveball was thrown 71-72 mph with 11/5 shape and early break. Mechanically he pitched from a ¾ arm slot with some stiffness in his arm action. He did not display a distinct balance point with a tall finish. Overall Sparks is a large frame athlete with a feel to pitch, with some projection.

2018 RHP Jacob Wagner, Little Rock Christian
Wagner is a 5-foot-11 160-pound right-hander with an athletic frame and a thin build. He pitches from a ¾ arm slot with a quick loose arm. He commands the strike zone with a fastball thrown 84-86 mph with slight sink. He compliments his fastball with curveball thrown 72-75 mph with 11/5 shape and late break. Mechanically he pitches with consistent fast rhythm with repeated mechanics. Overall Wagner is a solid athlete with a quick arm and a feel to pitch.
