Welcome to the Arizona Daily Roundup. 

Baseball season is finally here. As of Friday, March 12th, the AIA high school baseball season is officially off and running. Throughout the spring, PBR will be posting Daily Roundup with some scores and select performances from past games.

San Luis takes win over Mesa

2023 RHP Alejandro Vanegas started on the mound for the Sidewinders and kept the runs to a minimum against the Mesa Jackrabbits. Vanegas allowed 2 runs in 5.1 innings of work on 5 hits & 4 walks while striking out 9 batters. He also hit a big 3RBI double in the 5th inning while scoring a run of his own. The Sidewinders win the game 6 to 2. 

Walden Groves, Rushford one out away from the complete game no hitter. 

In other action from across the state, 2022 LHP Milo Rushford (New Mexico State commit) started on the mound for Walden Grove Monday night against Sahuarita. Rushford went hitless until the last out of the game where he had to be taken out due to pitch count rules. He didnt allow a single run or hit on 4 walks while striking out 11 batters in the game. Rushford also went 2 for 4 at the plate to help his own cause with a HR, 2runs & 3rbis. Junior, Alex Urias-Calbvillo came in to throw the last out of the game in the 7th inning to secure the no hitter for Walden Grove. They win the game 6-0.
