Top-10 Profiles of 2020: No. 8 Austin Humphres

Joe Dattoli
West Coast Director of Operations

Before the new year, many PBR states take the time to highlight the most viewed player profiles during the previous year from their respective areas. These views can come from scouts, coaches, players, family, etc. Coaches & scouts even have the ability to do advanced searches for players from our dashboard using key metrics & parameters. PBR has the ability to track how many views are going into each profile for personal use. Before the new year, we will be highlighting the Top-10 most view player profiles of 2020.

Today, we highlight the No. 8 spot on our list for Arizona:

Scouting Report

5/06/20

Verbally committed to Arizona State University

8/03/19

The 6-foot-3 170 pound lefty has an ideal pitchers body, and shows tantalizing flashes.  He’s an excellent athlete with a fast arm – it’s not hard to dream on a huge improvement on the 81-84 mph FB that he showed coming in the near future.  He showed a 70-71 mph CB that had depth and projects as at least an average pitch.  Watch out for him in the future – he’s definitely trending up.

6/18/19
6'3" 170 with a well proportioned, athletic frame.  Continues to progress nicely on the mound.  Clean arm action with average arm speed that projects to improve as he continues his physical maturation.  Above average athlete.  Generates steep downhill plane from the forced high slot that should allow all three of his pitches to tunnel well in the future. The ultra projectible lefty was up to 85 MPH with good downhill angle and a fastball that jumped out of his hand. He got uncomfortable swings throughout his outing, without anyone being able to get on time. His breaking ball is a work in progress but shows promise to be a future out pitch. True downer CB 71-74 and a solid CH 71-72.  The quick hip into open toe landing and lack of stiffness in the lead leg through his finish could cause command issues in the future, but for now his athleticism can overcome it.  With continued development and some delivery clean up, he could be a highest level prospect.
