Uncommitted Prospect Spotlight: 2019 Alec Acevedo

Jordon Banfield
Arizona Scouting Director

Throughout the year PBR will put the spotlight on a number of uncommitted prospects who show the necessary tools to play at the next level. 2019 Alec Acevedo from Nogales HS performed well at the Preseason All-State Games and has had anther standout spring for a perennial power down south. Acevedo has proven his ability to square up the baseball and also has been successful on the mound this spring. There's no question he can help a college program at some level as a first baseman and potentially on the mound as well. We are excited to see more from him this summer. As always, contact [email protected] or direct message @PBRArizona on Twitter with any questions and/or commitment information.

Scouting Report

1/28/18 - 6-foot, 185-pound frame. Showed better ability to find the barrel in game action than BP. Strong offensive performer at Nogales HS. Hits from slightly open setup with low hands and slight uphill path. Low back elbow power and ability to coil some. Shows present strength; 88 mph exit velocity. Worked out in the outfield and at 1B where he profiles best. Moved comfortably around the bag, showing some softness in his hands. Would be interested to see on the mound after posting impressive 88 mph infield velo with clean arm action. 7.44 60-yard dash.
