Uncommitted Spotlight: Jackson Thomas

Brett Thorney
State Scouting Director

We continue our coverage of uncommitted players, spotlighting them to help maximize their exposure and assist them in the recruiting process. Today, we look at 2021 RHP Jackson Thomas (Mountain View).

2021 RHP Jackson Thomas (Mountain View)- Last attended our 2021 Top Prospect Games back in mid June where he stood out as one of the top arms from the entire event. Showed a strong body from a large 6-foot-1 185-pound frame. We have had reports from last week that Thomas was up to 92mph with his FB. This doesn't surprise us as he showed natural arm strength at 85-90mph back in June with a raw delivery and slightly forced separation. We actually wouldn't be at all shocked if Thomas threw even harder than this come spring. With the development of his secondary pitches a bit more, Thomas has a chance to be solid addition to a pitching staff at the next level. Shouldn't be uncommitted too much longer.

Scouting Report

6/23/20

6-foot-1 185-pounds, uncommitted, strong-bodied, physical frame. Raw delivery with arm getting up early. Little rhythm in hand separation. Hips work well, creating shoulder/hi[ separation. Highest average velocity on the day of 87.8mph. Showed some command of his FB with short quick arm action at 85-90mph at 2108rpm & average 19in. of induced vertical movement.  Breaking ball can be thrown a bit harder. Slurvy breaking ball worked 70-74mph at 2091rpm. Has a chance to throw harder with an already strong frame.
