Unsigned Senior Spotlight: 2019 Cody Hedalen

Jordon Banfield
Arizona Scouting Director

Throughout the year PBR will put the spotlight on a number of uncommitted prospects who show the necessary tools to play at the next level. 2019 Cody Hedalen will spend his senior season at Desert Vista HS after transferring over from Hamilton HS and may also spend it at a different position. After spending most of his time on the infield previously, Hedalen turned in a blazing 6.63 60-yard dash at the 2019 Top Prospect Games in June and has since been spending more time in the outfield. The combination of athleticism, positional versatility and present strength should make him an option for a number of programs at the next level. With some swing tweaks and improved rhythm in the box, Hedalen  can certainly be a contributor at the college level as a guy who can play up the middle with pop in his bat. Check out the full report below. As always, contact [email protected] or direct message @PBRArizona on Twitter with any questions and/or commitment information.

Scouting Report

6/27/18 - 5-foot-10, 180-pound. Strong, athletic build. Fast twitch type athlete. Shoulders angled down in stance at the plate. Shifted weight forward then backward during load. Two-piece hand load movement, loads hands deep, small leg kick trigger. Flashed some quickness of the hands and bat speed when synched up; 81 mph exit velocity. Quick twitch actions of the infield. Moved aggressively to the ball to both sides. Could play lighter on the balls of his feet. Strong throws across the diamond, plays with energy. Hedalen also turned in one of the better 60-yard dash times, surprising with a 6.63, which should be enough for someone to take a shot at him.
