Positional Data Dive: Albuquerque Summer ID

Albuquerque, NM – Spark Kindness Sports Complex – The Albuquerque Summer ID took place on August 23, 2026, and featured players from across New Mexico going through a full pro-style workout. Position players participated in batting practice and defensive evaluations while collecting data through TrackMan, BLAST Motion and VALD 60-yard sprints with splits. Pitchers also threw bullpens, with detailed metrics recorded, including velocity, spin rate and movement profiles. Several familiar names continued to trend upward, while a number of new prospects made strong first impressions.

Exit velocity measures the speed of the ball, in miles per hour, as it comes off the bat at the moment of impact.

HIGHEST SWEET SPOT%
Sweet Spot percentage measures how often a player produces a batted ball with a launch angle between eight and 32 degrees during the session.

Traditionally, the 60-yard dash has been the event standard for measuring a player’s speed. We implemented additional timing gates at the 10- and 30-yard splits to capture each athlete’s acceleration and explosiveness. From there, an athlete’s top-end speed can be calculated in miles per hour. While the full 60-yard time remains useful, the 10-yard split has become increasingly applicable when evaluating a player’s initial burst in game situations, whether in the outfield or on the basepaths.
